A Day in the Life
The Group Purchasing Organization (GPOs) Commercial Enablement role is a team member of the Strategic Accounts Accelerator (SAA). The SAA is a commercial enabler with the mandate to drive durable profitable growth, maximize Medtronic’s presence, and unlock new opportunities in key accounts to position Medtronic as the partner of choice.This role will focus on elevating transactional relationship to strategic partnerships with GPOs, positioning Medtronic as a trusted partner, streamlining procurement processes, and unlocking new opportunities while we enhance our presence across the healthcare landscape. The scope will involve establishing strong relationships, negotiating and managing contracts, and creating tailored value propositions that address healthcare priorities, improve patient outcomes, and maximize efficiency for our partners. For this position, you will be located primarily in Poland, with Turkey or Western Europe as alternative locations, and you will support the Eurasia region, and requires a minimum of 40% travel.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
- Build and maintain trusted partnerships with key decision-makers within GPOs to uncover opportunities, and act as a Medtronic representative, aligning our capabilities with the strategic priorities of GPOs to reinforce our position as a trusted partner.
- Position Medtronic offerings effectively within GPO frameworks, streamlining procurement.
- Monitor market trends, procurement changes, regulatory developments, and policies affecting GPOs and healthcare networks.
- Analyse purchasing data, tender consumption, and market dynamics to provide actionable insights and reports that support strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate with internal teams to design tailored value propositions and solutions that address the unique priorities of GPOs, emphasizing quality, cost-efficiency, and improved patient outcomes.
- Develop and execute complex contract negotiations with GPOs, including pricing, terms, and compliance, partnering with internal stakeholders, and manage the contract lifecycle, ensuring timely renewals, amendments, and adjustments to reflect evolving market conditions and customer needs.
- Implement efficient processes for tracking and optimizing contract performance and work closely with internal teams to refine pricing strategies that balance competitiveness with profitability.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
- 5 to 7+ years of experience in market access, health economics, strategic account management, business development, consultancy, project management or procurement strategy within healthcare industry; ideally with a focus on GPOs or similar large-scale healthcare purchasers.
- Understanding of healthcare procurement practices and processes, group purchasing dynamics, and public health authority frameworks, market access, ideally across multiple countries with familiarity with healthcare regulations, reimbursement policies, and cost-containment practices.
- Proven track record in contract negotiation and account management with large healthcare entities or purchasing organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage the full spectrum of strategic initiatives, from idea generation and planning to execution and measurable outcomes, with proficiency in program management, including planning, business case development, coordination, stakeholder communication, relationship building, milestone tracking, issue resolution, and risk management.
- Experience working in diverse, international environments, preferably within matrix organizations and/or cross-regional teams, with exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at various levels, with Fluency in English (written and verbal). Proficiency in other regional language(s) will be an additional benefit.
- Experience using SFDC and/or similar CRM tools to monitor account performance and identify growth opportunities.
