A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, reclassifications, and adjustments across multiple entities in accordance with Medtronic accounting policies and applicable accounting standards.
  • Support month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close activities, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of financial results.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and P&L analysis, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and financial statement integrity, including investigation and resolution of variances.
  • Execute and review P&L and balance sheet reclassifications to ensure proper accounting treatment and alignment with financial reporting requirements.
  • Analyze financial results (P&L and balance sheet) and provide insights to support business decisions and management reporting.
  • Prepare and deliver financial reports and analyses to stakeholders, highlighting key variances, trends, and areas requiring attention.
  • Calculate, prepare, and file indirect taxes (e.g., GST/HST, sales taxes), including related journal entries, payments, and reconciliations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Reconcile tax accounts and support internal and external audits related to tax filings and financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (e.g., FP&A, Payroll, Trade, Shared Services, and Operations) to resolve discrepancies and ensure accuracy of financial data.
  • Maintain documentation in compliance with internal controls and company policies.
  • Identify and drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, standardization, and automation within accounting processes.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing required schedules, documentation, and explanations.
  • Perform other accounting, reporting, or finance‑related duties and special projects as assigned.

Salary Range: $66,240 - $82,800

Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires practical knowledge and demonstrated competence within job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
Requires a Baccalaureate degree (or for degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree which satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)( 4)(iii)(A) and minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 0 years of experience.
