A Day in the Life


As part of the European Projects Management Office and Open Innovation team, you will work at the intersection of healthcare innovation, European R&D projects, and business strategy. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Europe while supporting innovation initiatives and contributing to research on emerging healthcare technologies and startups.


This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands on experience in the European innovation ecosystem, including exposure to Horizon Europe programs, open innovation initiatives, and the development of digital health solutions within a global healthcare technology leader.

Internship details:
• Start date: 1st August 2026
• Location: Madrid, Spain
• Duration: 12 months (extendable + 6 months)
• Working hours: 40 hours per week
• Work model: hybrid (2 days in the office)
• Internship agreement

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
• Support financial administration and reporting for European R&D projects.
• Assist in the execution and coordination of ongoing innovation projects (e.g., PALPABLE, IMPROVE, AISN, GRACE, ENKORE, EXIT CVD).
• Contribute to the preparation of proposals for European Innovation Projects, such as Horizon Europe, Innovative Health Initiative, and EIT Health.
• Support Medtronic’s Open Innovation initiatives in Europe through research, coordination, and project support activities.
• Prepare presentations and support the update and maintenance of digital content (websites and social media).

Required Knowledge and Skills:
• Recently graduated or in the final year of studies in Biomedical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Business Administration, Management, or a related field
• Fluency in Spanish and English (minimum C1 fluent level)
• Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) and interest in new technologies (IoT, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning/Deep Learning) and their application in the healthcare field
• Proactivity, independence, and a desire to learn and take on new challenges
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a business-oriented mindset

Would be a plus:
• Basic knowledge of video editing or graphic design tools (e.g., Premiere, Illustrator, InDesign)
