Job Description

The department of Pharmacokinetics, Dynamics, Metabolism and Bioanalytics (PDMB) is seeking a dynamic leader for our growing Translational PK/PD organization. The Translational PK/PD Director is responsible for driving application of our modeling and simulation capabilities to enable earlier and more confident decision making around PK/PD, modality selection and dose prediction across all therapeutic areas for small molecule, peptide and protein therapeutics. Directors are responsible for achieving results via others on program deliverables while also being responsible for talent development and performance management of their staff, regularly interacting with multi-disciplinary discovery teams and partners from other functions within our company.

The Translational PK/PD Director role will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and talent management for the group through:

  • Leading a team of scientists including people management, scientific and operational oversight, under the direction of the Associate Vice President of Data Automation and Translation (DAT)

  • Leveraging drug discovery, translational and disease area expertise to independently provide day-to-day scientific oversight to individual contributors to identify and optimize drug candidates

  • Improving the diversity of our teams, ensuring equity of opportunity and an inclusive workplace

  • Identifying resource needs and contributes to resource allocation internally and through management of business operations including travel and outsourcing budgets

  • Working with DAT leadership to contribute to the development and execution of departmental priorities and ensure broad alignment of individual priorities/performance of team with the DAT and larger PDMB vision and mission

  • Providing functional representation on committees, task forces or initiatives

In addition to the responsibilities described above, Directors demonstrate outstanding leadership and communication skills collaborating across PDMB and with other functional areas to create a quantitative model-informed approach to impact program strategies and decision making on drug discovery teams through the application of translational PK/PD, mechanistic and PBPK models.

Required:

  • PhD or equivalent degree with at least 7 years of drug discovery or development experience or MS/PharmD with at least 10 years of experience

  • A record of both internal and external impact in driving model-informed drug discovery and translational PK/PD strategies

  • Demonstrated track record in establishing an inclusive and high-performance work environment through building talent, fostering collaboration, driving results and overseeing the work of other scientists

  • Experience in performing hands-on translational PK/PD modeling including PBPK and mechanistic PK/PD for small molecules and protein therapeutics

Preferred:

  • Expert skills in experimental design, mathematical problem solving, critical data analysis/interpretation, and statistics

  • Proficiency in written and verbal communication, interdisciplinary collaboration, and problem scoping and planning.

  • Emerging leader in the field of translational PK/PD with a track record of external visibility, through publications, presentations and/or involvement in professional organizations

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

Effective September 5, 2023, employees in office-based positions in the U.S. will be working a Hybrid work consisting of three total days on-site per week, generally Tuesday, Wednesday and either Monday or Thursday, although the specific days may vary by site or organization, with Friday designated as a remote-working day, unless business critical tasks require an on-site presence. The Company is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job in certain states and cities within the United States. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate’s relevant skills, experience, and education.

Expected US salary range:

$200,200.00 - $315,100.00
