Lifecycle assessment (LCA) is a critical component of corporate sustainability programs to identify opportunities for product improvement, compete in tenders, and accurately report on corporate and product environmental footprints. This position is responsible for executing corporate LCA and product carbon footprint (PCF) projects and for helping to build internal knowledge to expand capabilities.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Serves as primary technical expert for the completion of product LCA/PCF projects, including data collection, modeling, report-writing, critical review, and development of environmental product declarations (EPDs) or similar summary documents. Collaborates across internal divisions to guide execution.
Presents LCA/PCF results to internal stakeholders, communicating impact-drivers and potential areas for improvement, and educating where needed on LCA/PCF topics.
Develops LCA/PCF analyses to support internal decision-making and analyses, as well as customer requests when appropriate.
Coordinates company internal LCA/PCF activities across human and animal health divisions to ensure alignment to unified strategy. Maintains internal database of completed projects.
Builds internal LCA/PCF execution knowledge to realize efficiency & cost savings. Trains team members to assist in projects, as necessary. Participates in efforts to enhance and standardize processes.
Documents process and methodology, contributing to and maintaining Standard Operating Procedure-type documentation for LCA/PCF execution.
Represents the company in external LCA/PCF collaborations, meetings, and forums.
Collaborates across the enterprise to contribute to mandatory environmental sustainability disclosures, including emerging climate regulations.
Supports internal and voluntary external reporting and disclosures regarding the company’s environmental sustainability programs and performance via the company’s Impact Report, CDP Reports, and other country-specific reports.
Benchmarks company practices against peers and other leaders in support of continuous improvement.
Participates in and/or leads cross-functional projects as assigned. Completes all milestones and assigned action items by established deadlines. Adheres to all financial commitments and processes.
Required Experience and Skills:
At least 3 years of demonstrated LCA/PCF execution experience; including LCA modeling and authoring of LCA reports.
Experience with SimaPro, GaBi or equivalent LCA modeling software.
Strong project management skills with a track record of successful cross-functional collaboration.
Strong understanding of ISO 14040, 14044, 14067. Understanding of Carbon Accounting and familiarity with WRI GHG Protocol.
Basic knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing and product types, especially as it pertains to raw material proxy modeling based on raw material availability in LCI databases.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including technical report writing and presentations to stakeholders with different knowledge basis.
Ability to simultaneously balance and adjust to multiple changing priorities and make decisions with speed and accuracy.
Desired Skills:
Knowledge of, and experience with sustainability reporting frameworks and regulations such as GRI, CDP, UN SDGs, and CSRD. Knowledge of global sustainability trends.
Experience with SimaPro LCA modeling software.
Strong Data Analytics skills, with experience in Microsoft Excel and PowerBi (or similar visualization tools).
Understanding of cGMP manufacturing environments, familiar with enterprise data management software such as SAP.

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

The salary range for this role is
$104,200.00 - $163,900.00This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, government requirements, and business or organizational needs.
The successful candidate will be eligible for annual bonus and long-term incentive, if applicable.
