Job Description

This position operates as a business partner proposing ideas and innovative solutions that enable new organizational capabilities through the efficient management of software products. We collaborate internationally to deliver the services and solutions that enables the commercialization of our medicines, vaccines, and Animal Health products. The SAM Optimization analyst will be part of a center-led Software Asset Management Service to ensure compliant, cost effective and efficient utilization of software in partnerships with Software Owners across our company. The position acts as the key liaison with internal stakeholders to ensure the alignment and maturity development of overall software assets capabilities within the enterprise. Our company is driving a multi-year IT transformation that requires an operationally and technically focused SAM Service to support the effective utilization of third-party software as underpinning technologies in support of our broader overall IT initiatives of moving to the cloud, data and analytics and an agile product team centric operating mode as key elements of the IT change. In addition, this role is expected to work as an advocate and expand the utilization of SAM services and data as a foundational element within IT to deliver breakthrough results, driving overall innovation and automation.

What will you do?

  • Perform in-depth analysis and reporting of software asset data, delivering actionable insights that drive informed decision-making across the organization.

  • Support cross-functional teams by integrating SAM tools with existing systems, automating repetitive processes, and enhancing overall productivity.

  • Contribute to improved decision-making, cost savings, and risk mitigation within the IT software asset management environment.

  • Ensure the software asset inventory is accurately maintained and optimized in accordance with contract terms and conditions by collecting and analyzing IT asset usage data.

  • Take ownership of understanding and clearly communicating software license models and related terms to relevant stakeholders.

  • Utilize reports and dashboards to present findings to team leaders and stakeholders, facilitating better business-driven decisions.

  • Identify and address compliance risks, unauthorized software usage, and non-approved software assets.

  • Monitor market trends and changes in software licensing, assessing their potential impact on the company’s software asset strategy.

  • Support continuous improvement efforts across the entire software asset lifecycle.

Education:

  • High School Diploma required.

Required Experience:

  • At least 2 years of experience in IT Asset Management (ITAM), Software Asset Management (SAM), and/or managing SW vendors and/or software licensing agreements is highly desirable.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience using advanced analytical tools for performance data analysis and comprehensive reporting.

  • Exposure to software vendor environments and a solid understanding of various software licensing models and compliance requirements

  • Hands-on experience with SAM tools such as ServiceNow SAM Pro or equivalent.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail; proactive and self-motivated.

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within cross-functional global teams.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to learn and explain complex licensing and compliance concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders.

  • Quick learner with the ability to grasp complex technologies, software licensing frameworks, and vendor-specific terms.

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

The salary range for this role is

$77,700.00 - $122,300.00

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, government requirements, and business or organizational needs.

The successful candidate will be eligible for annual bonus and long-term incentive, if applicable.
