The opportunity

Michelin North America, Inc. is hiring a Service Technician for Solideal Onsite Service. Together with our numerous partners worldwide, we offer customized services to meet the maintenance requirements of forklift fleets, ensuring safe operations and maximized uptime.

The Service Technician will provide valued input and observations for customer service and operational improvement. They will continuously improve on the knowledge of our products and services and assume full ownership of the position function, with understanding of the role in relation to the success of the Service Center.

Mechanical experience is preferred, but expertise isn’t required for this position. We will provide training for any skills required. Let us invest in your success as you invest in ours.

This position is for day shift (start times may vary), 8-hour shifts with overtime available after 40 hours.

Must be able to pass a urine drug screen and DOT physical as a condition of an offer of employment, subject to ADA and reasonable accommodation process. Must be able to pass background check at appropriate stage consistent with state law as a condition of an offer of employment.

What you’ll do

  • In-house and onsite installation of material handling tires using a hydraulic tire press.
  • Dismount, mount tires, and service the customer product as specified by the customer order.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and ensure cleanliness of all equipment including service vehicles.
  • Report to the Service Manager immediately any material that does not meet quality standards, equipment that requires maintenance, delays at customer sites, potential issues with customer equipment before servicing, accidents or concerns about safety or other potential hazards.
  • Job requires: regular bending, crouching, squatting, and reaching movements, lifting product of weights up to 75 pounds, (lift-assist available for weights exceeding 75 pounds), standing for prolonged periods.

What you’ll bring

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A valid driver's license and clean driving record (required).
  • A commitment to work with the highest regard for personal safety and the safety of others.
  • Punctuality, effective time management skills, and a willingness to work overtime as required.
  • A strong attention to detail, initiative, critical thinking, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently, in addition to follow accurate, specific, and technical instructions. Direction will be provided by the Regional Service Manager and/or Operations Manager as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds with mechanical assistance ie; forklift, Lift table, Lift Gate etc.
  • Effective communication with customers on a professional level regarding product and business operations.
  • Previous experience in an industrial environment and/or mechanical proficiency preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) software applications. ERP system knowledge a plus but not required.

  • In a Tobacco-free environment, including alternatives (vaping).
  • In an SOS vehicle, where you will be exposed to various noises and hot/cold conditions at customer locations (indoor/outdoor).
  • In locations, where you will be periodically exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
