THIS OPEN POSITION IS LOCATED ONLY AT THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS: PEOSTA, Iowa

MISSION : The Paint Process Engineer is responsible for developing, configuring, and optimizing paint line processes including both liquid and powder paint. This position promotes quality, continuous improvement, and safety practices. The qualified candidate will communicate on a regular basis to all affected paint line departments and will be a change management advocate. Additionally, the qualified candidate will:

  • Manage the paint process business portfolio
  • Validate the new processes or the process evolutions – based on product needs or industrial performance improvement– by the implementation of the Homologation / Qualification / Robust Industrialization: HQRI
  • Coordinate local actions for process business projects

KEY EXPECTED ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Develop & implement paint line process improvements.
  • Develop paint line masking and hanging tooling and fixtures
  • Optimize both liquid and powder paint line processes.
  • Lead and coordinate with outside suppliers on paint process design with higher safety and quality standards.
  • Manage wash system and paint adhesion/application process.
  • Work with suppliers/customers to define, adjust, and improve current and future material specifications.
  • Support operations and technical level in the paint process and troubleshooting to meet daily plan.
  • Work with cross-functional team to achieve plant goals.
  • Support development and standardization of work procedures (SOP).
  • Manage projects within allotted timelines & budget.
  • Support the EMS, QMS & H&S systems.
  • Perform other duties and assignments as directed by management
  • The paint process is validated and complies with the HQRI approach and the planned timelines. Right First Time principles are applied (MTP). Risks of not attaining the expected performance level are anticipated and risk mitigation is demonstrated
  • Customer complaints, nonconformities and performance deviations (product, industrialization) detected through use are processed with an appropriate reaction level. The effectiveness of the solution is demonstrated.
  • All team members participating in the implementation of the HQRI approach are trained.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Industrial Engineering or related required
  • 3 - 5 years minimum of industrial or manufacturing related engineering experience required. Equivalent internship or co-op experience is acceptable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, high team engagement and ability to collaborate with people of differing personalities
  • Ability to set and achieve goals with minimum supervision. Validated collaboration, interpersonal and planning skills.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions:

  • Manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to work in hot conditions, be able to work at a fast pace.
  • Must be willing to interact with manufacturing personnel in an industrial setting.
  • Must be willing to arrange schedule to work on off-shifts as necessary to accommodate the operations.
