Product Manager II
Microsoft
Product
Hyderabad, Telangana, India
Microsoft Devices Operations (MDO), Digital Transformation Services (DTS), is hiring a Product Manager II in Hyderabad, India to own the platform that lets MDO build and operate its core business systems safely and at speed.
MDO runs the supply chain, manufacturing, and operations engine behind Surface, Xbox, and other Microsoft devices. To scale, we depend on a growing engineering workforce — internal teams and vendor partners alike — building against MDO’s SAP surround, data platforms, APIs, warehouses, and program management tools, and on a 24/7 SRE function that keeps those systems reliable. Both halves need the same thing: opinionated standards, self-service tooling, and AI-powered guardrails that make the right way to build and operate also the fastest way.
In this role, you will own the product roadmap for that platform. Product teams, SRE/DRI engineers, and vendor developers are your primary customers. You will partner with engineering, security, and architecture to set the standards that protect MDO’s core systems, design the tooling that makes those standards effortless to follow, and drive the AI/AIOps strategy that takes humans out of the loop wherever it is safe to do so. This is a product role, not a compliance or operations-management role.
Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.
Responsibilities
Platform Strategy & Roadmap
- Own the end-to-end product roadmap for MDO’s platform: the standards, tools, portals, paved paths, and SRE tooling that govern how developers build against, and how SRE/DRIs operate, MDO’s core systems.
- Define and evolve MDO’s builder capability and access tier model: trust tiers, maturity tiers, and the onboarding-to-production pipeline that matches access to risk.
- Champion a “guardrails, not gates” approach, embedding governance and operational requirements into tooling and templates rather than human approval processes.
- Partner with MDO vendor management, procurement, and operations teams to integrate platform requirements into vendor contracts and partner agreements.
Developer Experience & Paved Paths
- Design and deliver the developer paved road: templates, scaffolding, starter kits, sandbox environments, and reference integrations that make safe development the fastest path against MDO’s SAP, data warehouse, and API systems.
- Own the developer portal as a product: service catalog, API catalog, documentation, and self-service access flows.
- Drive developer onboarding from first day to first production deployment; treat time-to-productivity as a primary product metric.
Standards, Policies & Guardrails
- Develop API governance standards, data access policies, and system integration guidelines that protect MDO’s core systems while enabling developer velocity.
- Partner with Security, Legal, Compliance, and Architecture to translate risk requirements into automated, developer-friendly guardrails.
- Scale Azure policy-as-code and security posture management across MDO subscriptions.
Site Reliability & Operational Excellence
- Own the SRE tooling roadmap: incident management workflows, DRI playbooks, runbook automation, production readiness standards, and self-healing service patterns.
- Define and track reliability KPIs (availability targets, TTx, SLA attainment) and drive systemic improvements with data.
- Own production change management (CAB, deployment gates, phased rollouts) and drive toward zero-touch, policy-driven change approval.
- Run incident lifecycle management at scale: post-mortems, repair-item tracking, and service-health metrics.
AI in Operations
- Define product vision for AI in operations: Azure SRE Agent, AI-powered incident triage, and agentic resolution capabilities.
- Prioritize SRE agent capabilities, runbook automation, and self-healing patterns with engineering.
- Define success metrics (auto-resolution rate, MTTR reduction, incident deflection) and drive adoption across MDO.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree AND 2+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development.
- OR equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Platform & Developer Experience
- 5+ years of experience in product management, technical program management, or software engineering, including 2+ years in platform, developer tools, API, or partner/ecosystem products.
- Experience with internal developer platforms, developer portals (Backstage or equivalent), or paved-path / golden-path tooling.
- Experience designing or operating developer programs for vendors, partners, or third-party builders (certification, onboarding, enablement).
- Experience defining product success using developer experience metrics such as developer NPS, DORA metrics, and time-to-productivity.
SRE & Operational Excellence
- Experience with incident management platforms (ICM, PagerDuty, ServiceNow) and SRE practices (SLOs/SLIs, error budgets, toil reduction).
- Experience defining AI/ML-driven automation strategies for operations or security use cases.
- Understanding of Azure infrastructure operations (AKS, App Gateway, VNets, NSGs, Key Vault, Entra ID).
- Familiarity with Azure policy-as-code and cloud security posture management.
Domain
- Familiarity with SAP, ERP, or large enterprise operations platform governance.
- Experience in supply chain, devices, hardware, or manufacturing operations domains.
- Familiarity with Azure, Microsoft 365, Dynamics, or Power Platform governance and compliance models.
Education & Background
- Background in solutions architecture, enterprise architecture, or technical program management.
- Master’s Degree, MBA, or equivalent advanced training in a related field.
