Communications Lead Microsoft Finland – Fixed-Term Employee Contract

We are looking for an experienced communications professional to join our Global Media Relations Team in Finland as a Communications Lead (Fixed-Term Employee Contract). This is a fixed-term position covering a family leave planned for 12 months, subject to business needs and leave timelines and offers a unique opportunity to help shape storytelling at the intersection of technology, business, and society during a period of rapid innovation and change.
In this role, you will partner with a wide range of local and international stakeholders to develop and execute communications strategies aligned to both global storytelling priorities and local business needs. You will drive engagement with top-tier Finnish media, create compelling customer success stories, and help position Microsoft as a trusted and innovative partner for digital transformation across both private and public sector organisations. The role also includes supporting local leadership with strategic employee and executive communications.
The ideal candidate brings a strong track record in corporate communications and media relations, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills. You should combine strategic thinking with a strong ability to execute, build trusted stakeholder relationships, and work proactively in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. A strong understanding of the digital media landscape and modern communications channels is essential to identify opportunities, drive engagement with key audiences, and act as a trusted communications advisor to the country leadership team.

Responsibilities
• Communications strategy planning and execution
• Media and influencer relations
• Orchestration and agency management, including financial and budget management oversight
• Reputation management, issues management, and crisis communications
• Act as a trusted advisor contributing to executive and employee communications
• Create relevant, newsworthy stories showcasing how Microsoft drives the transformation of core industries by helping organisations of all sizes become more innovative, sustainable, and resilient; support storytelling with compelling customer success stories focused on business outcomes and societal impact
• Establish and own the process for landing stories across earned, owned, and amplified media channels
• Serve as a corporate spokesperson, when needed, and help ensure a strong bench of relevant and trained spokespeople
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
• Media relations experience, including active relationships with Finnish journalists and influencers
• Ability to manage corporate and solution-focused communications and storytelling, developing compelling, concise, creative, and credible fact-based messaging and stories
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
• Strategic thinking rooted in market knowledge and business acumen, with sound judgement and decision-making ability in complex and dynamic scenarios
• Ability to orchestrate diverse perspectives and foster collaboration across virtual teams at both local and international level, including external agencies
• Experience in issues management and crisis communications, with the ability to remain calm under pressure
• Fluent/native-level Finnish, with excellent written and spoken English
• Proven ability to navigate complex, highly matrixed, and ambiguous environments
• Strong team player with a collaborative mindset
