As part of this team, you’ll work on highly scaled, globally distributed systems that handle millions of real‑time notifications supporting authentication, security signals, and account lifecycle events. The team operates at the intersection of reliability engineering, security, and innovation driving initiatives such as queue architecture modernization, AI‑driven signal processing, and cross‑cloud support (including sovereign environments). You’ll collaborate with a strong, diverse engineering group based in Nairobi and across the globe, with direct impact on customer trust and service resilience. Responsibilities
  • Design and build scalable notification capabilities: Contribute to developing core backend services that enable reliable, high‑scale delivery of identity notifications across multiple channels such as email, Teams, and future integrations.
  • Deliver high‑quality, production‑ready features: Own end‑to‑end feature development from design through implementation and validation ensuring strong reliability, performance, and adherence to enterprise‑grade SLAs and quality of service expectations.
  • Drive service reliability and live‑site excellence: Participate in monitoring, incident response, and post‑incident improvements, helping maintain high availability and ensuring notifications are delivered accurately and on time.
  • Collaborate across teams to enable platform adoption: Work closely with partner teams across Entra to onboard them to INS, understand their needs, and deliver solutions that simplify how they communicate with customers without building their own infrastructure.
  • Continuously improve the platform through innovation: Contribute ideas and implementation toward modernization efforts such as new communication channels, intelligent notification capabilities, and more interactive, user‑centric experiences.
  • AI First mindset: Using AI based tools to solve problems.


Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, C, C++, C#, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft background and Microsoft cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
