The Windows Experiences team is responsible for delivering seamless and integrated AI experiences in Windows for consumers, information workers, frontline workers, gamers, and others. In this role, you’ll partner closely with other teams in Windows, as well as across Office, and Edge.
We’re looking for a data-driven & customer-obsessed GEM with a history of delivering great end-to-end experiences, and a passion for innovation in human-computer interaction. Responsibilities
We are looking for a seasoned engineering leader with solid services and client-side experience, who can drive service excellence and lead teams to deliver high-quality, customer-impacting products with compelling and differentiated experiences.
The team is on a journey to transform Windows experiences to be simple, delightful, and modern—covering key user interaction surfaces across the Windows ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and drive the engineering vision and execution strategy by partnering with customers, partners, product management, and cross-functional engineering teams.
- Lead, grow, and inspire multiple teams of high-caliber engineers, fostering solid technical leadership, accountability, and delivery excellence.
- Own end-to-end delivery with a focus on quality, scalability, reliability, and service excellence across client and service layers.
- Build and nurture a culture of engineering excellence, innovation, customer obsession, and operational rigor.
- Champion collaboration, diversity, and inclusion, while creating an engaging and high-performing team environment.
- Hire, develop, and retain top talent, with a solid focus on coaching, succession planning, and building future leaders.
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- OR equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of total experience designing, building and shipping software at scale. Prior work experience as a Director of Eng preferred with 7+ years of people management experience. Proven track record of leading and growing diverse teams.
- Leadership: Must be capable of showing leadership in teams comprised of Microsoft, Partner and customer resources who may be engaged in the delivery of complex solutions for overall customer success. Be enthusiastic, motivated, and self-driven. Possess high tolerance to ambiguity and ability make progress in the face of it.
- Relationship Building: Proven track record of building relationships with senior executives in large or highly strategic accounts. Experience in managing various stakeholder relationships to get consensus on solutions required.
- Engineering thought leadership: Solid technical and engineering leadership with the ability to define architecture, drive execution strategy, and deliver at scale. Demonstrated expertise in cross-team collaboration, resource planning, operational excellence, and high-quality delivery, along with solid communication, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
- Collaboration and Communication: Proven track record of driving decisions collaboratively, resolving conflicts, and ensuring follow-through with verbal and written communication. Solid presentation skills with a high degree of comfort with both large and small audiences and various levels of management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Planning and Execution: Ability to think holistically and strategically. Leverage understanding of execution rhythm so that the team operates at a high level, knowledge is shared appropriately, and decision making happens at the right levels on the team. Proven ability to plan, organize, and manage complex technical products.
- Communication: Able to conduct insightful, multi-faceted conversations with senior product and technical decision makers inside and outside Microsoft. Conceptualize complex ideas quickly and convey those thoughts to others in a clear, effective and motivating manner.
- Collaboration: Experienced collaborator able to work effectively across broad teams and influence stakeholders of all levels and of all disciplines across Microsoft.
- Cultural Leadership: Proven ability to lead cultural initiatives, having positive impact on team morale and fostering an environment of inclusion.
- Microsoft Values: As a senior member of the Windows Engineering Team, candidates must be excellent representatives of the Microsoft cultural attributes and leadership principles.
- Judgement: Excellent technical judgment. Consistently demonstrating maturity and intellectual curiosity, helping the team pursue the best ideas.
- Windows and/or Experience in Artificial Intelligence is an added advantage.
