Critical Environment Technician
As a Critical Environment Technician (CET) in Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team, you will maintain the critical infrastructure that keeps our Datacenters up and running. This could be anything from coordinating with supplier/vendors, recognizing safe versus unsafe work environment, having a hands-on understanding of how critical environment equipment works, performing various types of maintenance, responding to onsite incidents while coordinating with other critical facilities professionals, and using telemetry and other platforms to monitor equipment performance and operations.
We’re looking for people who’ve built their careers in mission critical, highly regulated industries such as Oil & Gas, Aviation, Pharmaceutical, Semiconductor, Utilities, Industrial & Manufacturing, and Facilities or Building Services. This role is part of our Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team which is the engine that powers our cloud services and delivers the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. Responsibilities
You will work as part of an operational team and participate in the operations and maintenance of one or more technical systems, such as:
Electrical systems (substations, UPS systems, standby generators) Mechanical and cooling systems (air handling units, cooling, heat transfer and HVAC systems)
Building automation and control systems
Your key responsibilities include:
• Daily and routine inspection and monitoring of datacentre equipment, spaces and areas in accordance with predefined rounds and inspection procedures
• Identifying deviations and faults, and responding to incidents and abnormal situations according to defined operating models • Planned, preventive and corrective maintenance in accordance with documented work instructions and approved procedures
• Participation in safe and systematic troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues
• Recording and tracking maintenance activities in the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
• Supervising external contractors and coordinating work in accordance with Microsoft’s work permit and safety processes
• Participating in the development and maintenance of operating, maintenance and emergency procedures (SOP, MOP, EOP)
• Collaboration with the team, control room and other stakeholders
Qualifications
• Upper secondary education (vocational or general upper secondary school) or equivalent practical work experience
• Some prior experience in technical work, such as: industrial maintenance, electrical or HVAC installations, energy, process or production facilities, datacentres, hospitals or other demanding technical environments
• You will be required to travel between sites as part of this role so a valid driver’s license will be required.
Direct datacenter experience is not required—we provide onboarding and support to build the necessary domain expertise.

Critical Environment Ops ATR-B - The typical base pay range for this role across Finland is € 41,600.00 - € 53,800.00 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.

Critical Environment Ops ATR-C - The typical base pay range for this role across Finland is € 46,100.00 - € 64,700.00 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
