Overview

Mission: Own a defined area of the Core OS Print Platform end-to-end — improving its security, quality, and transition to the modern print stack.

The Windows Print Platform team owns the print stack built into every Windows 11 and Windows Server device, and — through **Universal Print** — extends it beyond Windows to macOS, the web, and mobile and tablet devices. The platform runs at scale & certification against open standards such as **Mopria** (an open printing standard) is a core part of the platform's strategy.

As a Product Manager II, you will own a clearly defined area of the printer and print-firmware stack and contribute to the team's security-first modernization for the Windows releases — helping move enterprises and consumers off legacy, vulnerability-prone print drivers and onto the modern print stack. This role owns outcomes for its assigned area with support from partners, engineering, and leadership relationships. It is a rare mix of platform work, real partner engagement, and open-standards impact, calibrated so a solid PM can own outcomes end-to-end.

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.

Responsibilities
  • Own the roadmap, priorities, and execution for a clearly defined area of the printer and print-firmware stack, from problem definition through ship, with support from engineering and PM leadership.
  • Lead your area's migration off legacy, vulnerability-prone print drivers to the modern print stack as part of the Windows 27H2 security-first release.
  • Define and track quality and security measures for your area [e.g. driver reliability, vulnerability exposure, print success] and drive them to target.
  • Partner with the printer manufacturers relevant to your assigned area (e.g. HP, Ricoh, Canon, Epson, Xerox, Kyocera) on driver architecture and quality, for portfolio-wide commitments.
  • Own open-standards certification for your area, including Mopria conformance, and represent Microsoft's requirements in that work.
  • Work with independent software vendors (ISVs) and internal engineering to reflect relevant print scenarios in your area's roadmap.
  • Run escalations for your area end-to-end — triage, drive resolution across partners and engineering, and own the tradeoff decisions.
  • Turn telemetry from cloud and local print into prioritization decisions and clear, data-grounded recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree & 3+ years of experience in product management, program management, or software development (or equivalent experience).
  • Demonstrated ownership of a technical product or platform area end-to-end, including making and defending tradeoffs.
  • Experience with operating-system platforms, device drivers, firmware, or print/imaging technologies.
  • Experience working directly with original-equipment-manufacturer (OEM) and/or independent-software-vendor (ISV) partners on hardware or platform commitments.
  • Familiarity with open standards and certification processes (e.g. Mopria) and with security or vulnerability management for platform software.
  • Ability to translate telemetry and customer signals into prioritization and stakeholder-ready recommendations.
