Microsoft is looking for a Policy Coordinator to support their Brussels-based European Government Affairs team. We are looking for a high-energy candidate with strong analytical and communications skills, along with an open, collaborative, creative and results-oriented mindset, as well as a passion for policy, politics and technology and the role of business in society. The position is offered as a 12-months contract.
The role sits in the Brussels European Government Affairs Team and focuses on Microsoft’s engagement on European privacy, online safety and law enforcement (lawful access) policy. The purpose of the Microsoft European Government Affairs organization is to build relationships and strengthen our dialogue with European stakeholders, in support of the European digital and broader policy agenda.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Political, policy and regulatory analysis and positioning:
monitor, analyze and report internally on emerging public policy issues in European privacy, online safety and law enforcement policy, including EU and Member State developments and relevant court cases.
provide regular updates on internal channels, prepare newsletters and ad hoc mailings.
coordinate internal stakeholders’ input across these areas, prepare policy position papers and support collaboration with relevant internal and external stakeholders, including European institutions, NGOs, think tanks and trade associations
Project management and event organization:
coordinate executive visits and prepare materials for executive engagement in Brussels.
help prepare, conceive and coordinate external events (ranging from roundtables to big external flagship events).
attend relevant external events and meetings and provide summaries/analyses and readouts of key takeaways.
Strategic planning: stakeholder mapping of various stakeholders in the EU institutions in identified key areas of policy cooperation, and continuous support to the team in building internal strategy and outreach planning to identify and capitalize on engagement opportunities at the national and EU level.
Research and drafting: support the team and senior staff with relevant research, by drafting and editing documents or developing support materials.
Qualifications
Qualifications
Work experience through previous internships in fast-paced environments; experience in public affairs consultancies or EU institutions will be preferred.
Degree in law, political science, international relations, philosophy, or a related social science.
Must be legally authorised to work in Belgium (Legally authorised = has citizenship or has been granted a valid visa or work permit).
Knowledge of European institutions, governance, legislative processes, and networks.
Project management skills. Excellent planning, organizational, networking and communication skills and strong attention to detail.
Ability to work well in a changing environment, and to prioritise competing demands on time, while ensuring deadlines are met. Adaptable team-player with a positive and friendly mindset.
Keen interest in European and international politics, privacy, online safety, law enforcement and technology.
Fluency in written and spoken English; other European languages a plus.
