The Creator Publisher Experience (CPE) team is responsible for ensuring developers and publishers have low friction access to our ecosystem, rich insights into the publishing experience, and a world class platform to provide their content to Gamers around the world. We work closely with partner teams across Xbox, as well as both internal and external game studios to further these goals. We’re always striving to find new and innovative ways of incorporating the latest in design patterns, cloud tech, and machine learning to create better experiences – all while maintaining very high availability services and ensuring the safety and security of our customers’ data.

We are seeking Data Engineer II with a passion for insight building and exploring new data and processes to join our team. At Microsoft we have access to vast data sets. Our goal is to connect perceptions, behavioral, and financial data to uncover unique insights that help drive decisions.
We are looking for Data Engineer that specializes and has a passion for developing data insights and guiding the product and business decisions through effective communication of those insights. You will be part of our team and will contribute to and work alongside many talented colleagues on exciting data and analytics problems. Experience having worked with time-series data trends, hands-on building AI/ML models, impact and opportunity analysis as a main skill on your job is required in this role, as the intuition associated with such experiences can help provide impactful, timely insights.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities include:
- Hands on analysis on large volumes of telemetry data using various algorithms and tools including your own
- Drive data driven ideation to understand various business problems and solutions
- Ship high-quality, well-tested, secure, and maintainable code.
- Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and back-end services for real-time decisioning, reporting, optimization, data collection, and related functions.
- Manage automated unit and integration test suites.
- Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with a small, motivated team of engineers and product managers.
- Experiment with and recommend new technologies that simplify or improve the tech stack.
- Participate in an on-call rotation
- Communicate effectively and in a timely way insights to partner teams both internal Microsoft and external.
- Define and track key org level success metrics for impact and drive reliable process to track contribution from individual feature initiatives across the product lifecycle against set goals
- Coach and mentor peers to continually raise the skills and culture of the team
- Dealing with ambiguity
- Key contributions in a medium-to-large area
- Ability to ramp up quickly
Desired Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 5+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
- OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 3+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS
- Experience withS distributed cloud service technologies such as Redis, Azure Data Lake, CosmosDB, Synapse
- Strong knowledge of data requirements, data modeling, data management, and data transformation.
- Strong in SQL, data analysis, visualization, tools, and APIs.
- Experience with performance monitoring protocols, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting guides.
- Experience with data governance and compliance with applicable laws and policies
- Knowledge and experience in data science, AI, or ML would be an added advantage.
