The Microsoft 365 team is looking for a Product Designer II to design key navigation and architecture for our core product – help define the future of navigation for our web team, make it easy for users explore new apps and explore ways to engage with Microsoft products.

Responsibilities

Product Design

  • Product ideation: Able to ideate solutions for product opportunities. Utilizes a variety of inputs (i.e. user insight, business needs, cross-discipline partners) to find solutions. Able to communicate the ideas concisely and to various audiences. Run usability testing – gathering and synthesizing feedback to action on
  • Craft excellence: Can create various types of artifacts across the design process to help identify needs, communicate ideas or show final concepts. Works across all levels of fidelity (i.e. wireframes, mock ups, prototypes). Good understanding of information architecture as well as visual design. Knows when to use design library components, and when to push the boundaries
  • Understanding of design process: Develop individual schedules for work delivery, clearly share estimates, trade offs and expectations of various approaches to work. Collaborate with other designers and cross-functional partners to develop work timelines.

Communication and Collaboration

  • Share work: Consistently seek critique and collaboration on your work from cross functional partners and other designers, embodies a culture of sharing often and early
  • Presentations: Can confidently share work at any stage to various audiences – product team, leadership, design team. Able to adjust storytelling to the right people to communicate the relevant content.
  • Partnerships: Work with Product Management and Engineering consistently to build alignment and shared understanding
  • Leadership: Help more earlier in career designers with their work and mentor where needed

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, or related field AND 3+ years experience working in product or service design
    • OR equivalent experience (e.g., experience using design thinking to solve problems).
Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ year experience with navigation focused or systems thinking products
  • Effective design execution on a larger team
  • Ability to work along side other designers in a complementary and collaborative fashion
  • Data and insight driven design efforts, from beginning to end, with measurable impact

Product Design IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,300 - $182,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $120,900 - $198,600 per year.
