Microsoft’s Margin Strategy and Investment Optimization (MSIO) team is an exciting and fast-evolving finance team at the forefront of Microsoft’s Cloud-first strategy. We are looking for a talented and motivated individual to join our MSIO Experiences + Devices (E+D) team.

We currently have an opening for an experienced Senior Finance Manager to join the MSIO E+D Investment Optimization & Enablement (IOE) Finance team partnering with Cost Of Goods Sold (COGS) finance, engineering leaders and teams within the E+D engineering group. The E+D engineering group is at the forefront of Microsoft’s vision to enable our customers’ digital transformation. The E+D engineering group instills a unifying product ethos across our end-user experiences and devices, bringing Windows, Office, and third-party applications and devices into a more cohesive Microsoft 365 experience. This covers a wide range of responsibilities which includes financial modeling, long range planning, and business analysis, business partnership, and the creation and ownership of efficient financial processes.

Responsibilities

  • Long Range Planning: Responsible for long range planning and target setting in alignment with Corporate and E+D timelines. Communicate required deliverables clearly and facilitate reviews with senior leaders in a timely manner.
  • Business and Finance Partnership: Provide leadership to the business and other Finance teams with respect to financial management, resource prioritization and allocation. Drive analytical and conceptual thinking with these partners that extends beyond the numbers into strategy.
  • Decision Support:. Apply strategic thinking into COGS planning to maximize margins. Proactively recommend a course of action if risk is present. Clearly communicate recommendations and scenario analysis to finance and business leaders
  • Financial Analysis: Analyze results to understand performance against plan/forecast. Monitor trends and key levers, such as HC and vendor investment against plan/forecast assumptions.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 6+ years post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership or Finance work experience
    • OR Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 4+ years post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience
    • OR equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications

  • 6+ years of financial analysis experience, preferably in a high-tech company
  • Deep technical skills (excellent Excel skills required, Power BI and SQL skills preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience in developing complex financial models, excellent quantitative analysis and forecasting skills.
  • Ability to influence and impact without authority, operate in ambiguity, and solve difficult problems, combined with the ability to prioritize and function well in a dynamic and matrixed environment.
  • Demonstrated communication & presentation skills. Can easily present complex financial issues to non-finance executives.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and cross group collaboration skills. Ability to drive simplicity within a complex and matrix environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Economics preferred. Advanced degree/certification such as MBA a plus.

Controllership IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $91,800 - $178,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $117,900 - $195,000 per year.
