Our team is responsible for delivering datacenter capacity for Microsoft’s cloud business within Cloud, Operations, and Innovation (CO+I). We have a portfolio of complex, multi-disciplinary, multi-million, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects specific to safety, quality, schedule, and cost goals.

We are looking for a Principal Business Program Manager who will be the leader to support and influence the delivery of network capacity in a fast-paced production environment. To help us accelerate achieving our objectives, growth, and transformation, we are looking for a candidate to strategically lead a team to evolve and transform our Business Desk processes. Model, Coach, Care and support the team and programs with; strategy, training, creating, and managing rhythm of the business, and leading process improvement within CO+I.

A successful candidate will have cross group organizational skills, demonstrate empathy, analytical and problem-solving capabilities, experience enabling action from data and a passion to automate processes. Be resilient and constructive when faced with changes and can quickly adapt.

Responsibilities

People Management

  • Managers deliver success through empowerment and accountability by modeling, coaching, and caring.

Business Program Excellence and Execution

  • Guides teams to define and execute on a landing and communication plan, such as the target audience(s) and communication strategy, and gets feedback from teams if communication has landed. Coaches teams to maintain the rhythm of business (ROB) during plan execution to ensure participants and stakeholders are communicating and responding according to the necessary cadence. Guides teams to work across teams (e.g., Landing, Design, Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, Technical Program Management) to ensure all program requirements are understood and can be met.
  • Guides teams to evangelize the program to stakeholders, partners, and customers to gain buy in. Coaches teams to leverage data and performance metrics (e.g., Objectives and Key Results [OKRs] and Key Performance Indicators [KPIs]) to demonstrate the value of the program and show business impact. Drives teams to adapt communication style and storytelling strategy according to audience and business needs.

Business Program Planning and Design

  • Guides teams to perform program landscape research and analysis (e.g., internal and/or external market, sales, delivery), forecasting, and examine business trends (e.g., customer feedback and expectations) to stay current, agile, and competitive, drive clarity, and deliver energy and results of outcomes impacting the broader unit and/or Microsoft. Provides expertise to help teams understand overall business goals, objectives, and strategies, as well as short- and long-term business priorities. Motivates teams to understand and identify current program risks and impact. Develops mitigation plans impacting the broader unit and/or Microsoft.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations, Finance or related field AND 8+ years work experience in program management, process management, process improvement
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years management (e.g., people, project, process, vendor, change) experience.
Other Requirements

These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations, Finance or related field AND 10+ years experience in program management, process management, process improvement
    • OR Master's Degree in Business, Operations, Finance or related field AND 8+ years program management experience, process management, process improvement
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years people management experience.

Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local government agency customers and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. To meet this legal requirement, and as a condition of

employment, the successful candidate’s citizenship will be verified with a valid passport.

Business Program Management M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $124,800 - $266,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $159,000 - $292,200 per year.
