As part of the Microsoft Commercial Solution Areas (CSA) - Unified Services sales organization, we are seeking a Director of Business Strategy to lead strategy planning for our Unified business across Azure Data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Business Applications. This role will be focused on developing the strategy, planning and tools required by our field sellers to enable the business to achieve its growth aspirations and serve our customers. As the Business Strategy Architect for Biz Apps/Azure Data & AI, you will define the core sales model used by the field to sell across the Support portfolio.

Partnering with colleagues in corporate leadership roles in Customer Experience & Success (CE&S) and CSA, this role will be critical in defining the right field model to accelerate our growth in the Unified business offerings including our modern Support offering Unified, related Cloud accelerators and Enhanced Solutions across the Microsoft Cloud. This team leader will be a visible advocate for the field and will be counted on to represent the voice of the field and customers across our corporate functions.

Responsibilities

As the Director of Business Strategy you will manage the following aspects of the business:

  • Yearly Fiscal Year (FY) planning processes which include all work associated with business planning, investments and business cases, seller capacity and incentives, sales model modifications and role orchestration Act as the Unified Sales representative in regular touchpoints and/or v-team workstreams with Enhanced Solutions offering owners to evaluate and drive Support Sales business requirements into offering creation and updates. Repsponsible for cross-org orchestration, business performance, engagement between Sales, Customer Success , Unified Solutions Group (USG) and Support Sales and Go to Market (GTM) functions.
  • Collaborate with the Support Sales Enablement team and Support Sales Landing team to ensure offering launch/changes are proactively communicated to the field.Identify and influence Enhanced Solutions related sales incentives/contests aligned to the product strategy and market needs. Analyze sales outcome and field/customer feedback to determine continuous improvements needed to drive revenue growth in your respective solution area while addressing blockers.
  • Partner with Marketing, Area Business Group (BG) Leads, Sales Enablement, and Solution Areas to ensure Support is integrated into all Sales Motions. Establish and maintain connections with internal teams, cultivating relationships with leaders across Finance, Unified Solutions Group, Sales, Customer Success solution areas.Develop recommendations and provide thought leadership into the creation o
  • Solution Plays, Solution Play Accelerators, and playbooks and ensure Marketing team releases content that meets the needs of the sellers in achieving Enhanced Solutions (ES) revenue growth targets.
  • Lead governance rythym of business (ROB) with Sales, Customer Success, Unified Solutions Group (Offerings), developing business plans, prioritizing field feedback and incorporating into yearly strategy. Partner across teams to define key performance indicators (KPI’s), programs, initiatives, and business rhythms relative to your area.
  • Coordinated and simplified landing of key business programs and process changes in the field.
  • Prioritization of business requirements for tool investments and updates; ensuring the voice of the field is heard in these decisions.
  • Develop Support business insights to identify actionable opportunities and support management of the business.
  • Engage and influence a large number of corporate and field stakeholders to drive alignment around the strategy and plans.
  • Represent business and technical needs/feedback in key leadership forums with engineering and business leaders.
  • Support business review processes and own special topics.
  • Assess current year performance against the strategy and provide course correction recommendations.
  • Ensure the right quantifiable metrics and KPIs in place to achieve right outcomes for our customers and measure progress over time.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations, Finance or related field AND 8+ years work experience in program management, process management, process improvement
    • OR equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of distinguished experience in Sales / GTM roles
  • Solid internal and external communications skills are required (written, verbal/presentation)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Solution Areas
  • Prior experience in strategy roles
  • Solution Selling experience and expertise to develop customer scenarios for Unified GTM.
  • Customer focus, seeking to understand future markets and customer needs and actively considering alternative business models to meet those as well as market needs.
  • Maintained focus on customer experience when balancing short- and long-term decisions.
  • Ability to build forward-looking performance indicators.
  • Experience in leading complex teams with heavy emphasis on orchestration and collaboration.
  • Collaboration, enabling the conditions for successful collaboration at the organizational level that delivers results, with proven capabilities of Influencing for Impact.

Business Program Management IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $129,200 - $273,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $162,000 - $299,400 per year.
