Overview

Microsoft AI is dedicated to advancing Copilot and other consumer AI products and research. The team is responsible for Copilot, Bing, Edge, and generative AI research. Come be a part of the team shaping the future personal computing.

Technical Program Manager leads the development and implementation process for products and services typically involving large, complex cross-functional implementation with multiple internal teams or external partners. Leads efforts such as designing product architecture and solutions to complex technical needs, identifying trends in product quality and performance to define or change existing features; prioritizing and delivering on the roadmap; managing project schedules and release plans; monitoring product/service performance and driving continuous improvement in quality, profitability, supportability and delivery. Acts as technical advisor with customers to evangelize products, solicit feedback, and support field sellers where needed. Designs and drives programs and/or product changes that address customer needs and business priorities.

By applying to this U.S. Mountain View, CA OR Redmond, WA position, you are required to be local to the San Francisco OR Seattle area in office 3 days a week.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects with an emphasis on technical background and an understanding of system architecture.
  • Experience solving complex technical problems with attention to detail.
  • Experience with project management tools and methodologies, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 10+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

    • OR equivalent experience.

  • 8+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects

  • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Passion for learning new technologies and staying up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in web, mobile development, and AI.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing requirements and deadlines.
Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
Technical Program Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Engineering and Business Owners: Define program requirements, set priorities, and establish scope, including defining the roadmap and long-term strategy.
  • Manage Cross-Functional Dependencies: Effectively manage risks and changes by optimizing scope, schedule, and resources accordingly.
  • Drive Technical Analysis and Development: Partner with cross-functional teams to drive technical analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and post-implementation phases.
  • Develop Communication Plans: Own communication plans to effectively and proactively communicate program status, issues, and risks to stakeholders.
  • Define and Track Key Metrics: Define and track key metrics and key quality and performance indicators, driving cross-functional execution of program deliverables.
  • Drive Process Improvements: Implement process improvements across multiple teams and functions, including reducing manual efforts through automation.
