Overview
Join a high-impact team driving innovation in AI network deployment for data centers. As a Technical Program Manager (TPM), you will enable the seamless configuration of critical network components within and between the datacenters of Microsoft’s Azure cloud. Your expertise will play a pivotal role in significantly reducing deployment cycle times by creatively optimizing processes and managing network dependencies.

Microsoft’s Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO+I) team builds and operates Microsoft datacenters, which in turn powers Microsoft’s cloud business. The CO+I AI Network Acceleration team focus is the predictable delivery at scale of AI network deployments.
The Technical Program Manager of AI Network Acceleration will deliver complex network infrastructure projects, working with multi-faceted teams (full time employees and vendor staff) and have technical depth and experience in delivering bare metal infrastructure at scale, in operational environments. Your responsibilities will include being a team player, you will possess communication and collaboration skills, and have the ability to effectively manage and solve problems in alignment to standards and schedule. The role partners closely with colleagues, engineering and other infrastructure and operational teams, along with key decision makers across geographic and organizational boundaries, while maintaining excellence in installation of network infrastructure for high security networks in datacenters and other spaces.

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.
- OR 3+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
- Experience with data center network deployment
- Strong understanding of GPUs
- Proven track record with delivering network, networking product and/or production deployments; and scaling usage / consumption of product and services.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree AND 10+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
- OR equivalent experience.
- 8+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
- 6+ years of experience as a network engineer or technical program manager for networks deployments, preferably at one or more hyperscale cloud providers.
- 1+ year(s) SQL & PowerBI experience

- Controlled Technology:
- This role will require access to information that is controlled for export under export control regulations, potentially under the U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations or Export Administration Regulations, the EU Dual Use Regulation, and/or other export control regulations. Responsibilities
AI Network Infrastructure Deployment:
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and deployment teams to ensure all network dependencies are identified and addressed.
- Develop and implement strategies to reduce the AI network deployment cycle time, leveraging automation, tools, and creative solutions.
- Ensure alignment of network configurations with overall data center deployment timelines and capacity delivery goals.
Analysis:
- Guides teams to identify opportunities and gaps in process implementation, solicit customer feedback, and perform research. Advocates for data-driven decision-making and ensures alignment between customers, market, internal stakeholders, and Microsoft’s goals and strategy.
- Leads and coaches teams to develop problem statements and hypotheses for features and process improvements across divisional boundaries. Leads teams to perform experiments to test hypotheses and inform decisions. Establishes clarity of root problems and trends, and leads process improvements. Facilitates collaboration between their team and partner teams to bring about solutions.

Product/Service Development:
- Acts as a subject matter expert in orchestrating and integrating efforts for the development and implementation of features on large cross-functional projects. Drives collaboration and coordination across teams to ensure alignment on product management and release.
- Guides teams to partner with engineering to contribute, prioritize, and deliver on the roadmap for features. Drives teams to understand the value proposition and justify capacity requirements. Partners with engineering to ensure alignment with goal updates and tradeoffs.
- Guides teams in tracking, coordinating, and communicating end-to-end project schedules for features. Ensures teams establish and monitor processes, track and manage dependencies, and make adjustments when projects are not aligned to schedules or goals.
- Drives teams to develop the staging and implementation plan for piloting/release in alignment with OKRs and KPIs for features. Ensures teams collaborate with stakeholders to monitor progress and adjust as needed.
- Helps teams lead governance programs and processes to ensure performance requirements and standards are met throughout the development lifecycle.
Product/Service Performance:
- Provides expertise in partnering with others to collect performance metrics, monitor and report on progress, and derive insights to improve development, iteration, and implementation of features. Leverages customer listening systems, telemetry, and engagements to develop insights on product performance and customer needs. Leads teams to form hypotheses, perform experiments, and iterate to drive improvement in specific performance metrics.
