Overview

The Microsoft Azure Core team builds and manages the fundamental platform across compute, storage and networking services. This role will play a significant part leading the formation of a new team with a mission to build services and automation at the very core of the Azure platform and extending its reach to new regions in Europe and beyond. In this role you will have the opportunity to work with multiple partner teams in planning, designing and implementing some of the foundational building blocks of the Azure platform including highly available services used across the entire platform. We are looking for a strong Product Manager Lead to build and drive a highly functional and performing team.


To succeed in this role, you should have strong technical and analytical skills, excellent cross-group collaboration skills, and a passion for driving great technology designs in partnership with local and remote teams. You should also be able to make data driven decisions and be very strong in deriving insights based on data. You’ll be working with teams across multiple organizations in Azure to influence the design of our services, processes, and the tools that will continue to improve the platform. Finally, we’re looking for a team player with a can-do attitude, and a strong bias for action and results.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent technical education/experience.
  • Demonstrated professional product/program management experience.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional / Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge and experiences:

  • In depth knowledge of Azure or other cloud platforms
  • Experience architecting or implementing mission critical, distributed systems
  • Experience recruiting and retaining world-class engineering talent
  • Experience with Github/Gitlab or Azure DevOps
  • Experience working as part of agile development teams as Scrum master

Responsibilities

  • Build, train, and lead a team of technical program managers focused on defining and building foundational services and automation for the Azure Platform.
  • Partner with software engineers to deliver core capabilities that enable Azure Platform to be best of class in data center build out efficiency and data governance.
  • Work in a fast-paced technical environment with engineering leaders across Microsoft.
  • Provide hands-on program management during various phases of our projects including day-to-day contributions as part of agile development practices.
  • Define and own key metrics and key quality and performance indicators.
