Our Electrical Engineering and Firmware is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the power and performance management of existing and future products. The candidate will possess the ability to collaborate closely with our mechanical and thermal development team, electrical engineering team, and software/firmware team to ensure system level power budget and thermal specifications are met while delivering world-class acoustic performance in consumer electronic products.

The candidate will be experienced in electrical engineering, but also have the breadth to understand thermo-mechanical aspects of the active cooling technologies utilized in desktop/laptop computers and consumer electronic devices. Additionally, they should have an understanding of power states and power management features in Windows and/or other operating systems, control system theory, PID fan control, and thermal/acoustic tradeoffs as it applies to consumer electronics devices. Responsibilities shall also include the design of test vehicles and prototype systems to validate concepts and methodologies.

The candidate should have a good understanding of System-on-Chip (SoC) power/performance trade-offs between frequency, voltage, and power, and voltage and performance binning techniques for SoCs. Close collaboration with the silicon development team, the electrical design team, and the manufacturing and test team will be essential.

The candidate will demonstrate a solid understanding of core engineering principles, analytical process, disciplined methodology, superior problem-solving skills, and a passion for developing technologies and products with a broad scope of impact. Experience will include significant contribution to the development of world-class consumer electronic products such as video game consoles, set-top boxes, desktop PCs, and laptop/tablet PCs. good technical leadership, communication skills, having a bias for action, and a willingness to tackle big challenges.

This candidate will own all aspects of the power/thermal subsystem design and characterization on existing Xbox console variants as well as future designs and shall ensure a good customer experience from product inception through end-of-life.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

· 8+ years of technical engineering experience

o OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or

related field AND 5+ years of technical engineering experience

o OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or

related field AND 3+ years of technical engineering experience

  • knowledge of core engineering principles including circuit design and analysis.
  • Experience working on power management techniques and methodologies in consumer electronics products.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related

field AND 8+ years of technical engineering experience

o OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or

related field AND 6+ years of technical engineering experience.

  • Familiarity with PC and embedded system hardware and software/firmware architectures
  • Understanding of control loops and PID based fan control algorithms
  • Experienced in high-volume consumer electronics design and manufacturing
  • Experienced with a variety of lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, electronics loads, thermal chambers, temperature sensing and management systems, digital multimeters, and automation equipment

Electrical Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Specifying the power requirements for the primary components of the gaming system utilizing innovative solutions to balance power draw, cost, and thermal constraints.
  • Development and implementation of power management techniques at a system level to achieve high power savings while maximizing performance.
  • Developing a holistic thermal and power management system-level solution for complex, integrated entertainment devices.
  • Development of thermal subsystem requirements by working with mechanical engineers to evaluate different solution options for functionality, cost and risk.
  • Development of power management requirements by collaborating with team members to evaluate design targets and different solution options for functionality, manufacturability, cost and risk
  • Specifying, designing (schematic capture, PCB layout, BOM, cost analysis, prototyping), implementing and verifying electrical subsystems on the motherboard.
  • Simulation automation, data gathering, analysis and visualization using JMP, MATLAB, or similar tools.
  • Working with other engineers across disciplines to design, test and debug complex hardware technologies for product development, and to meet aggressive cost and schedule targets
