Microsoft’s Azure Data engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence. The products our portfolio include Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL DB, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure PostgreSQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, and Power BI. Within Azure Data, the big data analytics team provides a range of products that enable data engineers and data scientists to extract intelligence from all data – structured, semi-structured, and unstructured. We build the Data Engineering, Data Science, and Data Integration pillars of Microsoft Fabric.
The OKR (Objective Keys and Results) team is dedicated to advancing the release and shipping process of the Spark Runtime ecosystem within Fabric and Synapse. This role involves cross-functional engineering work, developing reliable and scalable solutions that seamlessly integrate various features and services across the organization. The focus is on creating efficient, high-performance systems that enhance overall developer productivity and ensure high-confidence releases. Success in this role requires not only solving technically complex problems but also identifying and prioritizing the right problems to tackle.
Technologies
- Technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C#, Powershell and YAML.
- Experience with big data processing technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, etc.
- Good working knowledge of agile software development methodologies.
- Experience working with cloud services such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or others, and familiarity with cloud concepts such as containers, orchestration, and microservices.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C# AND Powershell AND YAML. o OR equivalent experience.
- 4+ years experience with C# programming.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.

Responsibilities
- Conceive, design, and execute diverse cross-functional features to enhance the customer experience and boost developer productivity.
- Collaborate with partner team developers and engineers to design, develop, and implement scalable toolsets for the Spark Runtime engineering ecosystem.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of automation scripts and software applications to optimize developer productivity.
- Assist in the integration of monitoring and alerting systems to ensure the reliability and performance of the Spark Runtime engineering ecosystem.
- Participate in code reviews, debugging, and troubleshooting to improve release quality and performance.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and translate them into scalable software solutions.
- Document code, processes, and procedures to facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration within the team.
- Provide support and assistance to team members as needed, including during release validation and deployments.
