Overview

The Microsoft Copilot Studio Agents team is on a mission to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) automations into business applications, simplifying workflows, extending human ability and increasing productivity. Utilizing automated triggers and asynchronous large language model (LLM) orchestration, agents will address previously intractable problems.

We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join our team.

The individual in this role would design and build intuitive experiences that enable users to create and deploy agent capabilities that solve real world problems at scale.

The Power Platform always places the customer and quality at the core democratizing the AI space by empowering individuals to make smarter, faster decisions relying on the ecosystem of Power Apps, Power BI and Power Automate. The Copilot Studio is also the extension mechanism for Microsoft’s family of Copilots serving millions of end users.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
    • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualificaitons:

  • 5+ years experience developing distributed applications with C#.
  • Experience working understanding of Leveraging LLM to build Bots/Copilots.

Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.

Responsibilities

- Design and implement well-defined interfaces across multiple components, code reviews, leveraging data/telemetry to make decisions.
- Drives negotiations with partner and peer engineering teams and pushes agenda forward while finding compromises and alternatives with Product Owners.
- Writing and maintaining End to End, Integration and Unit tests for the features and choosing the right style of tests to provide confidence in a feature being shipped.
- Demonstrates technical leadership through driving direction, influencing strategies, and developing innovative technical solutions through prototypes.
- Gain a working understanding of Microsoft as a business and collaborate with engineers from peer and partner teams in order to contribute to cohesive, end-to-end experiences for our users.
- Strive for a better engineering culture focusing on cleaner, performant codebase with clear and frequent code reviews, building and updating wikis for processes, driving the root cause and running services at high scale.
- Develops and shares best practices that emphasize performance, reliability and reusability.
