Overview

Microsoft Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers Microsoft’s AI and cloud platforms and services that millions of people use every day. Within CO+I, the Cloud Innovation Services & Solutions team is responsible for delivering solutions and services that enable reliable cloud growth and operational excellence, including end to end program management, security, risk and governance, planning, learning and development and sustainability.

The Cloud ESG team focuses on preparing for Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) requirements and market expectations, and ensuring timely and accurate disclosure.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager-Cloud Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) Disclosure to support CO+I’s ESG efforts, more specifically the CO+I Sustainability & ESG Disclosure Governance Team. As part of this team, you will collaborate across a broad set of stakeholders, perform internal research, and communicate CO + I aligned messaging effectively in disclosure efforts.

In this role, you will manage the CO+I Cloud ESG Disclosure HelpDesk in the intake and resolution of requests from customers, media, regulators, etc. You will also support the annual environmental sustainability report released by Microsoft and support any other team disclosure engagements.

Candidates will be able to demonstrate their experience through empowering CO+I with the necessary ESG insights to support fast and targeted decision-making for performance and impact, drive accountability across the organization and translate ESG positions into approved disclosures. You are adept at working in a multi-stakeholder, multi-background environment, building enduring trusted relationships and efficiently influencing with limited control. You work effectively with senior executives, focusing on crisp and actionable communication, you are fluent and bring a strategic perspective, supporting the team by innovating and showcasing the team’s key results. You have been successful working within a matrixed organizational structure where you lead through influence and teamwork. You are comfortable focusing on strategic work as well as consistently producing high quality deliverables.

  • This role is located in either hub location : Atlanta, GA, Redmond, WA, San Antonio, TX, Washington D.C. or Phoenix, AZ.

  • Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates are required to relocate or reside within 50 miles of the hub office location.

  • This role is eligible for hybrid or remote work, up to 100%.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience in reliability, resilience, crisis/incident management, business continuity, risk management, engineering, or compliance work
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience managing ESG content strategy

  • 5+ years experience in identifying, monitoring, analyzing, and communicating relevant disclosures for external audiences.

  • 3+ years experince in written, presentation, and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively and concisely with stakeholders and leaders.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • 7+ years' direct experience in sustainability disclosure work and reporting (Task Force for Climate-Reflated Financial Disclosures (TCFD); Climate Disclosure Project (CDP); etc.)

  • Ability to influence with limited control, comfortable working through ambiguity, manage priorities independently and work across multiple time zones
  • Data management and/or business analytics experience.
  • Experience with reporting and disclosure related to carbon, water, waste, ecosystems, and AI

  • Analytical and creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data and surface insights to make informed decisions and craft messaging for external audiences.

  • Experienced at building support with stakeholders, collaborating with diverse, cross-functional stakeholder groups.
  • Skilled at transforming complex opportunities into clear, strategic priorities

  • Skilled at prioritizing and executing in complex and ambiguous situations

Business Resilience IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $115,000 - $200,300 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $146,200 - $219,200 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Cloud ESG HelpDesk through intake, tracking and responding of new requests. Act as a crisis manager in response to requests that could disrupt Microsoft business processes and services

  • Collaborate closely with internal cross-functional teams, partner with a variety of Microsoft organizational units to create approved narrative supporting ESG-related data

  • Establish and maintain relationships with subject matter experts across the organization to support disclosure efforts

  • Support comprehensive Disclosure efforts such as the annual Environmental Sustainability Report; Task Force for Climate-Reflated Financial Disclosures (TCFD); Climate Disclosure Project (CDP); etc.

  • Act as an informational resource for Microsoft employees, customers, partners, suppliers and other third parties by sharing approved and aligned ESG narratives

  • Extract, wrangle, analyze, and visualize Microsoft ESG request-related data to generate insights that inform a variety of complex resilience practices and policy

  • Create presentations for a variety of complex analyses, including dashboards, reports, data visualizations, self-service platforms, slides, and talking points

  • Ensure presentations are accurate, clear, and appropriate for internal and external stakeholders including executive leadership to inform and enable ESG disclosure strategy

  • Lead analysis and insights to help improve service resilience and drive recommendations that lead to service and reporting improvements
