At Azure Core, Azure Resource Graph (ARG) serves as a comprehensive inventory of cloud resources, dependencies, services, applications, and Azure metadata, playing a crucial role in powering nearly all Azure experiences and workloads. It underpins key platforms such as Azure Portal, Azure Marketplace, Search, and large-scale catalog experiences, ensuring seamless access and management for every Azure customer.
The ARG Copilot team is building an intelligence platform to develop AI-enabled Azure governance capabilities to enhance the quality, resiliency, and security of the Azure platform by reasoning over 6.5B+ cloud resources. We provide a natural language interfaces for analysts to simplify authoring complex queries to help users reason over a connected graph of billions of resources and trillions of edges.
As a Software Engineer on our ARG Copilot team you’ll develop innovative solutions that leverage ARG’s vast inventory of cloud resources, dependencies, and services, making complex cloud management intuitive and scalable. You’ll work alongside passionate engineers, contributing to cutting-edge technology that empowers teams and customers across Microsoft.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- Experience with Distributed Systems
Other Requirements:
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
- OR related technical field AND 1+ year(s) technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript,
- OR Python
- OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience with of frameworks such as Autogen, Semantic Kernel or LangChain.
- 1+ years of experience in full-stack implementation of AI assistants.
- 1+ year(s) experience with design patterns to guide AI agents based on pattern mining and semantic knowledge retrieval.
Software Engineering IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $84,200 - $165,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $109,000 - $180,400 per year.

Responsibilities
- Works with stakeholders to determine user requirements for tools and interfaces that empower AI assistants.
- Contributes to the development and optimization of cloud-based solutions leveraging Azure services, distributed computing, and cloud resource management.
- Implements AI-driven interfaces and natural language processing (NLP) solutions to power Copilot experiences.
- Creates and maintains scalable RESTful APIs and microservices architectures to support AI and cloud-based workflows.
- Collaborates across Azure teams to build platforms that provide actionable insights and automation, simplifying large-scale cloud management.
- Acts as Designated Responsible Individuals (DRIs), working on-call to monitor systems, product features, or services for degradation, downtime, or interruptions, and gains approval to restore them for simple problems.
- Champions an open, honest, and inclusive approach to problem-solving, setting the standard for collaboration and innovation.
