Overview

The Microsoft Sentinel Graph team within Microsoft's Security division is focused on driving Microsoft’s AI-first security platform strategy—building the security platform to unify security data, enable AI-powered agents and graph infrastructure, and operationalize partner and internal use cases across Microsoft and customer environments.

The team is seeking a results-oriented Business Manager to support organizational planning, drive business operations, and improve overall team effectiveness. This role will play a pivotal part in driving the rhythm of the business, shaping customer engagement strategies, and managing budget and headcount planning in partnership with the Corporate Vice President and leadership team.

In this role you will navigate both product and engineering conversations and translate technical inputs into clear business insights and communications.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 6+ years experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related roles
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience with cross-functional projects.
  • 2+ years of experience with data tools (including, but not limited to, Excel, PowerBI)

Other Requirements:


Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 8+ years experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related roles
    • OR Master's Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 5+ years experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related roles
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience with headcount and budget tracking
  • Experience navigating ambiguity and driving structure
  • Experience supporting engineering or technical teams
  • Familiarity with Microsoft internal tools and planning processes
  • Experience with stakeholder management and influencing without authority

Business Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $116,900 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $148,400 - $222,600 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Rhythm of the Business (ROB):
    Lead execution of the team’s ROB, including monthly business reviews, quarterly planning, leadership meetings, and annual strategy cycles. Ensure seamless alignment between business goals/OKRs, meeting cadences, and follow-through actions.
  • Customer Engagement Support:
    Coordinate and track customer engagement activities across the organization. Partner with engineering, product, and executive teams to support strategic customer interactions and ensure insights and outcomes are captured and acted upon.
  • Budget and Headcount Management:
    Partner with Finance and HR to manage fiscal planning, headcount tracking, and forecasting. Monitor spending against budget, identify variances, and provide strategic recommendations to maintain alignment with business priorities.
  • Business Operations:
    Drive operational initiatives to improve team effectiveness and business outcomes. Maintain key planning artifacts, dashboards, and reporting tools to ensure leadership has visibility into team performance and progress.
  • Communications and Planning:
    Support the development of team communications and executive presentations. Help craft and reinforce the team's narrative through internal storytelling, newsletters, and planning deliverables. Translate complex technical or product-oriented work into clear, compelling messaging for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration:
    Collaborate with stakeholders across Security and Microsoft to coordinate on initiatives, streamline processes, and contribute to a high-performing team culture.
