Overview
We’re the Monetization team and we own the Billing Platform that powers consumption-based billing for numerous Microsoft 365 pay-as-you-go services. We are looking for agile, and intellectually curious Software Engineer II - Backend who loves creating and building things that delight and protect our customers. You will be working with a team of amazing engineers, PMs, and designers, and work closely with other teams across Microsoft to deliver large scale, distributed architectures, and features to meet OneDrive and SharePoint's core service needs.
Given the scope of OneDrive and SharePoint, we have positions that range from the very front end of how a customer interacts with our services, through core system logic, to mega-scale storage, to background infrastructure to support our services and the engineers that build and maintain them. Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- Experience with cloud-scale services and server and/or service management features.
- Experience with building cloud-scale infrastructure components.
- Experience in coding, debugging, algorithm design, and problem-solving skills.
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science OR related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, OR Python
- OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- Experience with building cloud-scale infrastructure components.
- Awareness, passion, and experience related to cloud scale distributed design and patterns.
- Familiarity with secure software design concepts.
- Experience in delivering projects that include multiple components.
- Ability and eagerness to work across and partner with multiple engineering teams to achieve business goals.
- Experience collaborating with peers and partner teams to meet joint engineering goals.
- Coding, debugging, algorithm design, and problem-solving skills.
- Able to learn new systems quickly and adapt new methodologies to our services
Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.

- You will work in large-scale distributed systems that are critical for customers around the world.
- You will design and deliver services that manage internet-scale data stores, enable best-in-the-world file and site browsing and editing performance, or add innovative features to how people manage and interact with their data.
- You will contribute to and help shape the vibrant, inclusive engineering culture of OneDrive & SharePoint.
- You will be expected to do deep, data-driven, collaborative design for additions and changes to our products.
- You will write clean, efficient code and comprehensive tests.
- You will build coverage with metrics and telemetry to ensure we understand exactly what is happening with our services at all times.
- You will deliver features that will support and serve hundreds of millions of customers around the world.
