Overview

The Commercial Products & Infrastructure (CPI) org is responsible for enabling business decisions to drive revenue, shape capex investments, manage cloud & AI capacity, deliver margin excellence, and ensure ongoing resource allocation aligned to strategic engineering priorities. Within CPI, the Resource Investment Strategy finance team is an exciting and fast-evolving team that partners deeply with engineering leaders to ensure $20B+ resources across ~100K engineering FTEs are continuously aligned to strategic engineering priorities.

The Experiences + Devices (E+D) Engineering group currently has multiple openings for highly motivated Finance Managers supporting The Business Health, Central Planning, and Engineering Partnership team. The E+D Engineering groups instill a unifying product ethos across our end-user experiences and devices, bringing Windows, Office, and third-party applications and devices into a more cohesive Microsoft 365 experience.

These Finance Manager roles cover a wide range of responsibilities which includes various modeling and business analysis, partnering with engineering leaders on resource allocation decisions, and managing efficient financial processes. These Finance Manager positions require motivated and agile system thinkers who can demonstrate intellectual curiosity and navigate ambiguity and complexity to be trusted finance partners to our engineering leaders.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 2+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership, finance, or related field
    • OR equivalent experience
  • 1+ year(s) experience in a matrix-based organization

Preferred/Additional Qualifications

  • Financial analysis experience, preferably in a high-tech company
  • Proficient technical skills. Proficient Excel user familiar with advanced functions and charting capabilities. Proficiency combining, structuring, and mining large volumes of data from disparate sources using tools such as Power BI, Excel, SQL etc.
  • Proficient learning mindset with aptitude for understanding product and business strategy

Financial Analysis IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $76,800 - $151,900 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $100,800 - $168,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Business Health: Drive process excellence while partnering across Engineering and Finance to continuously assess portfolio health and understand key drivers to identify opportunities, risks, and tradeoffs. Analyze results to understand performance against plan/forecast, monitors trends and key levers to support various engineering and finance rhythms. Ensure resources and investments are constantly aligned with business strategy, product engineering roadmaps, and company priorities
  • Resource Analysis: Conduct resource analysis to provide health of business readouts and trends and articulate those findings to finance and leadership to support decision making. Communicate business results with clarity and conciseness, incorporating insights through resource allocation, workforce planning as well as understanding the connection between resource allocation with the overall financial performance.
  • Engineering Partnership: Support business decision making to drive operating leverage. Contribute insights for resource allocation and investment strategy by giving visibility to the current resource landscape and aligning to product strategy. Collect customer and partner feedback and assist with data analysis to improve decision support.
  • Rhythm of Business: Conduct regular financial reviews to enable faster decision making with timely and accurate reporting. Drive effective spend management aligned with company policies, procedures, and priorities in partnership with Engineering and Finance.
