The Small Medium Enterprises and Channel (SME&C) Azure Finance team is seeking a strategic finance leader to drive impact in the Small and Medium Business (SMB) segment. This Senior Finance Manager - Small Medium Enterprises and Channel Azure role offers a unique opportunity to shape how we engage with our smaller Customers and Partner ecosystem to maximize on Market opportunity for innovation and growth.

As a Senior Finance Manager - Small Medium Enterprises and Channel, you will focus on strategic partnership across a wide range of stakeholders, product-level financial insights, and field engagement. The Senior Finance Manager - Small Medium Enterprises and Channel will play a critical role in helping the SMB Leadership Team navigate market opportunities, scale execution, and drive business performance across the global Azure business.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting , Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 4+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, operations accounting, or related field
    • OR Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 2+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, operations accounting, or related field
    • OR equivalent experience
  • 1+ year(s) experience in a matrix-based organization

Financial Analysis IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $96,500 - $188,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $123,500 - $206,400 per year.

Responsibilities

Accelerate Growth & Insightful Decision-Making

  • Construct meaningful analyses that support Azure growth, workload adoption, customer acquisition, and other key SMB performance drivers.
  • Provide thought leadership on market dynamics and help shape the SMB growth roadmap.
  • Support Innovation Acceleration Program (IAP) and Area Performance Reviews (APR) design in partnership with Segment teams, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and financial rigor.
  • Communicate financial and business performance effectively to executive audiences to influence decision-making and drive clarity.

Enable Strategic Partnership & Market Impact

  • Partner across Go To Market, Business Operations, Strategy, and Corporate Finance to align priorities and drive execution.
  • Engage deeply with Field teams to understand local market dynamics, surface whitespace opportunities, and scale best practices globally.
  • Collaborate with GPS and SMB teams to support Partner and Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) motions, including setting appropriate targets and identifying growth levers. Act as a trusted advisor to Segment and Microsoft Customer and Partner Solutions (MCAPS) leadership, providing financial guidance, questioning assumptions, and offering actionable solutions.

Drive Financial Clarity & Operational Excellence

  • Lead financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, and rhythm of business (RoB) processes for the SMB segment within SME&C Azure.
  • Deliver product-centric financial insights that inform strategy and execution across Azure workloads, with a focus on Azure Consumed Revenue (ACR) growth in the scale business. Partner with Engineering Group (EG) Finance, Global Partner Solutions (GPS), and MCAPS Finance to support long- range planning (LRP) and investment alignment.
  • Collaborate with shared resource teams to drive standardization, simplification, and scalable financial processes.
  • Leverage tools such as Excel (Power Pivot, Power Query), Power BI, and MSX Insights to build and enhance dashboards that support reporting needs and business insights.

Champion Compliance & Governance

  • Partner with Corporate, External, and Legal Affair (CELA) and Control & Compliance teams to embed compliance rigor into financial processes and key risk areas, including discounting and partner incentives.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and ethical decision-making across all financial activities.
