As Director, Business Analytics you will champion the vision and strategy for our SME&C team across the channel and partner ecosytem and sales motions and our field leaders, managers, and sellers by leading a team that generates transformative business insights through innovative data solutions. You will contribute to continuing the team’s progress toward being a recognized hub for forward thinking in the field of advanced data analytics. We are looking for a talented and motivated analytics professional who can lead the team in solving a wide variety of business problems with data insights - all with the goal of providing actionable insights into business processes and customer experience.

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field AND 4+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis OR Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Finance, Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field AND 6+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years expereince working with quantitative or conceptual problems and situations to draw appropriate and valid conclusions from data presented. This includes analyzing data to determine the most significant elements, identify common elements and themes in situations and actions, and recognize cause and effect relationships.
  • 3+ years experience communicating and influencing, interpreting data, and providing relevant insights by talking stakeholders through details, decisions, and methods.
Additional or preferred qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field AND 8+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis OR Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Finance, Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field AND 12+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis

Business Analytics IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 - $251,900 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,600 - $272,300 per year.

Responsibilities

Data Analysis

  • Directs teams to proactively evaluate business needs in partnership with internal and external stakeholders, and to perform analyses focused on addressing relevant business questions. Fosters a climate where assumptions, tools, and/or techniques are consistently and critically evaluated, and directs teams to identify and address gaps. Fosters collaboration across cross-functional teams to adopt and improve upon recommended methods and tools used to conduct analyses and leverage actionable insights.

Evaluation

  • Directs the design and execution of evaluations of the impact of business, product, and/or operational decisions by teams in their organization. Holds teams accountable for synthesizing results across relevant evaluation instances, assessing risks and limitations, applying previous learnings and trends, and ensuring recommendations to the business are both actionable and clearly linked to both evaluation results and strategic business needs. Shares thought leadership and makes recommendations that lead to improvements in future evaluation efforts across their organization.

Expertise in Data

  • Serves as a trusted advisor in data, mentoring others and directing teams to evaluate sufficiency of data for drawing insights related to current and future business needs across their organization, and directing teams to proactively identify data needs and surface expected quality issues with data providers. Manages and influences cross-functional partnerships across Microsoft's business areas to advise Engineering or Data Science teams on the development of data pipelines, integrations, or models to optimally drive insights identification.
    • Operational Excellence: Skilled at elevating partner data infrastructure, improving reporting capabilities, and unifying key data sources such as efforts from OSSOT (One Single Source of Truth) to support robust, faster data-driven decision-making.
    • Business Intelligence (BI) Platform Enhancement: Demonstrated expertise in consolidating, migrating, and streamlining partner data sources, supporting Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program (MAICPP) requirements, and optimizing the Business Requirements Document (BRD) process for Partner Center engineering. Adept at advancing Partner Skilling Business Intelligence (BI) and driving the modernization of program benefits usage and acceleration for designation and readiness

Improvement, Efficiency, and Innovation

  • Drives efforts across their organization to introduce innovative methods that create efficiency in core work, enable meaningful interpretation of data, and are capable of driving business decisions and impact across organizations. Leads teams to determine optimal and innovative methods for standardizing, sharing, and scaling insights, and facilitates the implementation of business-relevant automation for patterns of ad hoc analyses or reporting into standard practices. Partners with Engineering and Data Science teams or organizations to develop and implement automation of core work tasks across related business units, and may showcase the features and benefits of innovative tools and/or methods to external customers and industry.

Orchestration and Collaboration

  • Serves as role model for establishing and leveraging strategic working relationships within and across teams to ensure quality data sources, clear understanding of business needs, and optimal use of analytical tools, processes, and insights, and dives their adoption to deliver results. Engages internal and external stakeholders to define and update expectations for leveraging contributions across the organization with a focus on addressing strategic business needs. Proactively shares and reinforces industry-leading strategies, and connects key stakeholders across teams and/or organizations.
    • Strategic Partner Program Development: Capability to plan, build and expand partner BI programs, ensuring alignment between business intelligence projects with broader go-to-market and digital experience objectives.
    • Cross-Functional Transformation: Experience in leading changes across multiple business functions, focusing on operationalizing criticial reporting for Partner fiscal year planning such as Partner Segmentation and targeting, Partner performance metrics, and activating data driven insights.

Presentation of Results

  • Coaches teams on, and sets standards for presenting analytic results through various means that are rooted in industry-leading strategies, including dashboards, reports, data visualizations, self-service platforms, slides, and talking points that enable others to make decisions confidently, influence leadership decision making, and drive business outcomes. Directs others to consider the needs of key stakeholder audiences and fosters improvements in the efficiency of reporting and presentation. Holds teams accountable for ensuring presented results are accessible and sufficiently relevant to influence decision making for intended audience(s).

Understanding the Business

  • Drives strategic direction of teams and mentors others to broaden knowledge of the business to leverage and integrate specific business expertise, relevant external trends, and connections between their business and other areas of Microsoft's business to anticipate and address business questions. Builds and leverages connections across areas of Microsoft's business and the business in industry to influence decision making that yields positive impact.
    • Domain Expertise: Deep knowledge of partner data systems and Global Parnter Solutions (GPS) processes, including expertise in partner propensity modeling, partner sales analytics, and proficiency in our internal CRM to drive system improvements and informed decisions.
