Microsoft’s Business Planning organization directs our commercial portfolio’s pricing, packaging, licensing, channel, and monetization strategies. Few organizations exist that have such a direct impact on how Microsoft goes to market, which reverberates across the entire industry. We are growth strategists who enable the Microsoft mission by creating durable profit growth through high-impact monetization strategies, packaging, and pricing. We are searching for a Senior Busoness Planner to join pur team!

This Senior Business Planner role is focused on monetization strategy for Microsoft Windows in the commercial channel. Windows is an iconic brand, touches lives of 1B+ users and a multi-billion-dollar business for Microsoft, and as such this role presents a unique opportunity for a strategic thinker to have a very high impact for Microsoft as well as our customers and partners.

We are looking for business leaders who have a passion for inventing new business models, rethinking existing business models, and growing a business running at a significant scale that Windows is. This role will provide a unique, once in a lifetime opportunity to learn and grow while transforming a highly successful software service. This role also has a high emphasis on product innovation and requires working with our product teams to influence product strategy, in alignment with business model and growth aspirations. This role provides a mix of strategy formulation, influence on product design and ownership of execution – you’ll never lose the pulse of the business!

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • 5+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience creating and articulating a strategy, influencing others, and driving business strategy.

Additional or preferred qualifications
  • 8+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience AND Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Computer Science, Economics, Business, or related field
    • OR 6+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience AND Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA), or related field
    • OR equivalent experience.

Business Planning IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $106,400 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $137,600 - $222,600 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.

Responsibilities

  • Build Growth Plans and Priorities: Work across the product management unit to develop the key strategic initiatives for growth. Define and document business strategies with the targeted audiences and ensure the initiatives are aligned with those strategies and are well understood and prioritized across functional teams – product, finance, sales etc.
  • Develop Monetization Approach: Define how we maximize business value for Microsoft aligned to the growth plan. Develop the approach for how Microsoft monetizes our wide scope of analytics products and services. Lead primary research to inform perspectives.
  • Design Packaging and Pricing: Deliver the specific packaging, pricing, licensing, and offers that define what customers actually buy. Define and deliver plans for specific offers, SKUs, and other packaging options to implement the monetization approach.
  • Land Monetization Impact: Focus on what is delivering real results through close proximity to the business. Develop and share insights on what is working and what is not working to achieve business outcomes to enhance go-forward strategies.
  • Lead Executive Decision Making: Engage with executive in the company to land business model decisions, through crisp structuring of complex topics, framing of key questions that needs addressing, and lead a data backed decision making discussion.
