We are looking for a Software Engineer II to join our team.
In this role, you will help build a world-class platform that enables customers - from pro developers to business users - to create, deploy, and manage AI-powered agents using natural language, low-code tools, rich orchestration and agentic capabilities.
We operate like a startup within Microsoft and are a highly-collaborative team within one of Microsoft's growing divisions. We are working at the intersection of large language models (LLMs), conversational UX, scalable microservices, and enterprise-grade compliance. Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of industry experience in service development and successfully shipping services through multiple releases.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check:- This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1+ year(s) of experience building production-quality Generative AI based systems
- Experience creating AI-centric user experiences, or familiarity with building AI orchestration systems.
- Experience building scalable applications and services with Azure or other cloud platforms with robust performance, resiliency, telemetry, and security.
Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, other engineering teams and customers to define and refine requirements for new features.
- Architect, design, and implement scalable microservices and back-end components to enhance user experiences
- Serve as the Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) for assigned systems, ensuring reliability, monitoring, and on-call support.
- Develop and maintain capabilities such as agent templates, generative AI evaluation platforms, multi‑agent orchestration, and AI metrics pipelines.
- Implement and enforce security best practices, governance controls, and enterprise readiness.
- Build tooling to support code-first scenarios: SDKs, pipelines to bring custom models & new capabilities.
- Collaborate across multiple teams to deliver cohesive, user-friendly workflows.
