The Sr. Finance Manager - Hardware & Margins Finance team could be the right opportunity for you. Microsoft Devices Operations (MDO) team’s mission is to enrich work, life, and play by bringing iconic Microsoft products to life. The Hardware & Margins Finance team partners with MDO to drive cost efficiency and cash optimization with financial modeling, guidance, and business decisions. The finance team is now looking for a Sr. Finance Manager - Hardware & Margins to join the team. Bring with you, your leadership, partnership and analytyical skills. This is a hybrid role based at the Redmond campus, with in-person collaboration three days a week.

Qualifications

Required / Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 2+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 4+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field
    • OR equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of experience in finance / business and/or product planning.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in supply chain, related business modeling, P&L management, and/or inventory management.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects, have excellent attention to detail, and work effectively under deadlines.
  • Familiarity with MS Finance and supply chain tools and processes a definite plus.
  • Proficiency on MS Excel and SAP
  • Ability to think strategically and communicate effectively with all levels of management

  • Collaborative and comfortable dealing with ambiguity, influencing across multiple complex organizations, creating effective internal business partnerships

  • Ability to independently lead teams and execute functional responsibilities with minimal guidance and oversight

  • Ability to think strategically and communicate effectively with all levels of management, with the capability to guide, educate and influence the thinking of senior decision makers.

Financial Analysis IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $96,500 - $188,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $123,500 - $206,400 per year.

The successful candidate will bring a combination of finance and business acumen, leadership, and influencing skills to this space to drive superior financial results in close alignment with our business partners. In this role you will also:

  • Provide finance business partnership to respective supply chain functions such as sourcing, inventory planning, freight and logistics, warehousing, and distribution. Provide key drivers through monthly management reporting, influence business decisions with insights and recommendations, drive ownership and accountability with key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Lead the financial planning process for Long Range Planning (LRP) cycles, aligning Gross Margin (GM) targets with corporate strategy and business unit goals.
  • Develop target-setting frameworks that balance growth, profitability, and operational efficiency.
  • Advise Management on the financial impact of various alternatives, particularly on GM performance, and recommend preferred course of action to drive strategic business decisions.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross functional teams of accounting, supply chain, operations, and engineering functions to align supply chain objectives and initiatives with the overall business goals and vision.
  • Perform detailed cost breakdowns across materials, labor, and overhead drive initiatives on cost reduction, process improvement, and risk mitigation across the supply chain network.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics for the supply chain operations, such as rates performance, operational efficiency ratios, inventory balance and supply, return on investment etc.
  • Own the financial reporting/planning/budgeting/forecasting and analysis processes of respective finance areas.
  • Focus on continuous improvement and process excellence, simplify and automate processes, systems and tools in respective areas.
