As an EHS Campus Manager the work you do will drive the prevention of incidents and illnesses through the implementation of high-risk-activity management processes, emergency response planning, and safety protocols in datacenter operations. You will work to ensure that a safe and healthy working environment is achieved by identifying risks and unsafe practices, implementing controls to mitigate risk, monitoring performance, and compliance with Microsoft standards and applicable regulations. This will be an on-site role based at one of our exciting datacenters.
Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. As an EHS Campus Manager you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. Qualifications
Required/minimum qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Safety and Health Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, related field AND 4+ years experience in Environmental Health and Safety Worldwide Regulations OR equivalent experience.
Background Check Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Additional or preferred qualifications
Master's Degree in Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or related field AND 6+ years Environmental Health and Safety Worldwide Regulations experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or related field AND 8+ years Environmental Health and Safety Worldwide Regulations experience OR equivalent experience.
Responsibilities
Compliance of Operations of Data Centers
Analyzes and documents the environmental, health, and safety impact on facilities. May ensure and/or conduct testing, monitoring, or sampling (e.g., noise, audiometric, chemical, area sampling). May ensure equipment is maintained and calibrated to manufacturer's requirements.
Completes, reviews, and submits required country/state/province notifications, declarations, and reports documenting the compliance. May ensure fees are paid and/or pay and report dues/fees to the government associated with legislation related to Environmental Health and Safety (EHS). Supports documenting tests and monitoring results into a report for internal records.
Disseminates information related to relevant Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) legislation and regulatory requirements and standards relevant to construction and operations. Ensures safety equipment inventory is maintained and required periodic inspection and maintenance is completed. Reviews materials, substances, and regulatory declarations to ensure compliance with Microsoft and industry regulatory EHS requirements.
Environmental Health and Safety Consultation
Participates and presents content in regional industry groups, public forums, authorities, and customer events to represent Microsoft, subject to approval. Communicates and recommends Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) solutions and best practices implemented by Microsoft. Facilitates showcases to inform and explain the best-in-class solutions. Contributes to responses to regulatory and other external inquiries.
Identifies and assesses risks to environmental health and safety for Microsoft employees, and deployment of a standardized framework for services. Recommends and supports the implementation of solutions to mitigate identified risks. Coordinates with stakeholders to continually improve processes and specifications by developing solutions and starts to maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.
Creates content for internal and external training on Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) requirements and best practices. Implements a communication framework to educate and build internal awareness of Environmental Health and Safety. Facilitates training for internal teams as required (e.g., emergency response and hazardous materials handling, management of compliance programs for EHS). May earn professional certifications related to EHS.
Policy Development
Implements and provides written Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) requirements to teams and stakeholders. Communicates EHS checklists and notifications to stakeholders regarding requirements via cross-functional projects and specifications.
