Within Azure Data, the big data analytics team provides a range of products that enable data engineers and data scientists to extract intelligence from all data – structured, semi-structured, and unstructured. We build the Data Engineering, Data Science, and Data Integration pillars of Microsoft Fabric. Within the Microsoft Fabric Data Engineering pillar, the Data Engineering Team builds and operates the foundational Spark runtime and orchestration services that power large-scale data processing in Fabric.
The Data Engineering Team is hiring a Senior Product Manager to lead initiatives that scale-out our product infrastructure, help define our go-to market strategy, and evolve our business model to deliver predictable, cost-efficient experiences for customers. In this role, you’ll partner closely with engineering, capacity, and billing teams to translate customer feedback into roadmap priorities, drive quality and reliability efforts that inform performance investments, and shape the next generation of data engineering capabilities in Fabric.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree AND 5+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software development
- OR equivalent experience.
- Knowledge in AI with some understanding of Large Language Model (LLM) skills; turns ambiguous ideas into working prototypes and measurable impact.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:
- This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree AND 7+ years of experience in product/service/project/program management
- OR software development
- OR equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of technical product management experience.
- Possess cross group and interpersonal skills necessary to articulate the business needs and importance of our security deliverables with experience working with data for analysis/insights.
Product Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.

Responsibilities
- Leads Fabric Spark infrastructure deployment strategy and delivery in partnership with engineering to advance reliability, scale, security; aligns with partner teams to develop long-term roadmap for Spark infrastructure strategy.
- Owns the Fabric Spark business model and unit economics (COGS); defines per-unit costs, partners with finance and engineering on storage/compute/control-plane drivers, and drives ongoing cost optimization and SKU/pricing guidance.
- Establishes and evolves Fabric Spark fraud/abuse prevention and cost-protection controls; defines detection signals, guardrails, and response playbooks with security/compliance programs; manages change timelines and customer communication.
- Serves as Go-to-Market (GTM) lead and Field liaison for Fabric Spark; equips sellers and architects with clear price-performance narratives, migration guidance, and competitive positioning; curates enablement assets and benchmarks.
- Acts as the single-threaded capacity liaison; consolidates demand signals, forecasts by region/SKU, and aligns capacity adds with CSCP and engineering; publishes regular capacity-health views and drives cross-team decisions.
- Transforms Product Management (PM) practice with Artificial Intelligence by operationalizing AI-assisted specs, telemetry reviews, customer-insight synthesis, and diagnostics; pilots AI-based troubleshooting and cost-optimization using Spark History/MCP data with engineering partners.
