Overview
We are seeking an experienced product strategy professional to join Microsoft’s Experiences & Devices (E+D) Strategy team as a Senior Director.
The E+D Strategy team plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of Microsoft’s most iconic products—Microsoft 365 Copilot, Teams, Windows, Business Application and Surface. As a Senior Director of Strategy, you will lead the development of multi-year strategic roadmaps, drive cross-functional initiatives, and pioneer the use of AI and large language models (LLMs) to transform both our products and the discipline of strategy itself.
This role requires you to be comfortable navigating a complex and dynamic environment, building relationships with stakeholders, and driving impactful work across a wide set of teams and disciplines.
This position is based at the Redmond campus with 3 days per week work in the office and 2 days per week work from home. Relocation support within the United States is available.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Liberal Arts, Computer Science, or related field AND 8+ years strategy, product management, marketing, business planning, consulting, banking, investing, economics, and/or partner organization experience
- OR Master’s Degree in Business Administration or related field AND 6+ years strategy, product management, marketing, business planning, consulting, banking, investing, economics, and/or partner organization experience
- OR equivalent experience
- 2+ years experience in corporate strategy, management consulting, banking, investing, competitive research, software product strategy or AI product management
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Liberal Arts, Computer Science, or related field AND 15+ years strategy, product management, marketing, business planning, consulting, banking, investing, economics, and/or partner organization experience
- OR Masters Degree in Business Administration or related field AND 12+ years strategy, product management, marketing, business planning, consulting, banking, investing, economics, and/or partner organization experience
- OR equivalent experience
- 6+ years experience in corporate strategy, management consulting, banking, investing, competitive research, software product strategy or AI product management
Business Strategy IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $155,800 - $277,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $202,400 - $303,600 per year.

Responsibilities
- Strategy in the Era of AI: AI is transforming the practice of strategy. Traditional approaches—lengthy analyses, static frameworks, manual competitor tracking—are being supplanted by AI-augmented workflows. As a senior strategy leader, you will define and institutionalize AI-native tools and workflows to accelerate strategic research, analysis, and decision-making (e.g., automate market and competitor scans; synthesize research reports and competitor earnings calls)
- Product Strategy: Proactively advocate for change to existing product strategies to better meet customer needs and stay competitive, based on quantitative and qualitative evidence.
- Resource Alignment: Inform allocation of resources to align with organizational goals, competitive pressures, and engineering execution across the Experiences + Devices organization.
- Market & Competitive Analysis: Identify opportunities, threats, and potential investments based on market trends, technology shifts, and competitor activities.
- Industry Foresight: Forecast transformative industry shifts and develop actionable plans to capitalize on emerging opportunities.
- Cross-Functional Project Leadership: Lead complex strategy projects, orchestrate workstreams across E+D and partners, and drive alignment across teams from engineering, marketing, finance, business development, and other central Microsoft teams.
- Executive Trusted Advisor: Build relationships with CVP+ decision makers by synthesizing complex issues into concise, executive-ready insights, and build a regular cadence of recommendations to E+D leaders and partner teams.
- Software Domain Knowledge: Deep understanding of commercial productivity tools, business applications, and competitive landscape.
