As Senior Strategy and Growth Manager, you’ll drive critical business and portfolio strategy projects, shape a premium portfolio of the industry’s most productive and secure devices, and identify bold growth opportunities in this role – all while streamlining operations for efficiency and rallying cross-functional teams around a vision. You will be a senior individual contributor with distinctive problem solving and people leadership skills assigned to our biggest product, go to market, and operations challenges. Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree AND 5+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development
- OR equivalent experience.
- Track record of success in driving business growth and identifying new revenue sources for large businesses across multiple functions (esp. product, marketing, finance).
- Solid business judgment and category instincts demonstrated through analytical problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Solid capability in verbal and written communications skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and adapt plans and approach real-time.
- Ability to create effective relationships, influence, and collaborate internally and externally at all organizational levels.

Product Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.

Responsibilities
- Problem Solving, Analysis, and Framing. Lead critical business and portfolio strategy projects across small, cross-functional teams. Develop a deep understanding of the personal computing ecosystem (customers, competitors, partners, business models, market sizing, and industry trends) and provide guidance to executives on timely and important questions on demand. Conduct market research using primary and secondary data sources (e.g., financial statements, reports, analyses, stakeholder feedback, expert calls), develop financial models, and leverage analyses of others to synthesize information. Frame the strategic questions. Identify additional analyses and input needed to make the decision. Drive a high standard for decision making backed by robust data analysis and insights from influential sources.
- Portfolio Strategy and Prioritization. Develop a clear, compelling, and rigorous assessment of Surface’s product portfolio, strategic priorities, competitive position, gaps, and potential opportunities, informed by any product roadmap and go-to-market issues.
- Growth Strategy. Define new growth opportunities for Surface in collaboration with the Surface Leadership Team, Product Management, Marketing, Finance, and Operations. Identify data-informed, short- and long-term investment opportunities, evaluate tradeoffs, and prioritize product, technology, and GTM investments in consultation with cross-functional partners.
- Cross-Functional Alignment. Create clarity and generate energy as a leader by ensuring our business plans and product roadmap are aligned across the customer, the market, internal stakeholders, senior leadership, and the goals and strategy of Microsoft. Anticipate push back and resolve conflicts using soft leadership skills and data. Manage multiple sources of conflict and difficult feedback. Collaborate with others to gain buy in and alignment. Solicit input from others regarding priorities and resources needed to deliver desired outcomes. Resolve alignment issues, contribute to portfolio level solutions, and drive cross-functional clarity and energy.
- Performance Management. Drive business impact across the organization and track execution of the strategy using clear success criteria and performance metrics (OKRs). Determine the value of the product or feature to the business, align success criteria, and measures success. Identify the best available data and measures, develop clear data collection and reporting, and use business judgement and product sense to explicate reasons for outcomes. Understand product costs and go to market motions and levers for profitability.
- Financial Planning. Develop a high-resolution forecast of the business opportunity for Surface, determine products or services of greatest value, and contribute to the work of planning leads (Business Planning, Finance, Product Management) to validate the Long Range Plan (LRP).
- Communication. Communicate and advocate project findings and recommendations to senior executives through written documents (e.g., memos, reports) and influence models (e.g., meetings, presentations). Contribute to the Surface Strategy memo. Communicate product strategy to internal and external audiences and build consensus. Deploy our business strategy using best practice leadership tools and techniques to scale your impact across the organization.
