Overview
The Microsoft Azure Core Compute Program Management (PM) team drives cross team engagement spanning the breadth of Azure from general purpose to high performance to AI computing. We focus on the area of Compute Infrastructure as a Service (Compute IaaS) from product design/definition to silicon/hardware/software design to implementation/growth/sustaining. Our mandate: deliver secure, efficient, high performance, highly reliable, deterministic compute that customers trust for their most mission critical applications.
As we extend the platform for what’s next, we’re hiring a Principal Technical Program Manager to lead division wide initiatives across Azure Host and Azure Boost. This role sits at the center of C&AI priorities for customer experience and platform competitiveness. You’ll drive services with availability and scale targets that raise the industry bar. You’re passionate about compute, fluent at the hardware–software boundary, and bring deep technical and analytical rigor. You influence across groups, turn ambiguity into outcomes, and have a track record of delivering large scale services. Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management
- OR equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
- 3+ years of experience with Azure (Compute IaaS, host/virtualization, platform services) or equivalent cloud platforms.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree AND 10+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management
- OR equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
- 8+ years experience delivering concise written narratives and clear, confident executive presentations.
- 6+ years experience with end-to-end program ownership: strategy/OKRs, planning, execution, launch, and operational excellence.
- 4+ years of experience mentoring and elevating TPM/engineering practices across an organization.
- 4+ years of experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).
- 4+ years of experience with Azure (Compute IaaS, host/virtualization, platform services) or equivalent cloud platforms.
- 2+ years exposure to the hardware–software boundary (e.g., silicon acceleration, hypervisor/host, drivers, platform services).
Technical Program Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
