Overview
We’re building Azure as the world’s computer. Azure is built upon three core services: Compute, Networking and Storage. The Azure Storage Hardware Platform Team is the engine that powers the Azure Storage cloud services.
The team is looking for a Senior Product Manager to work on a unique and highly visible role with major scope to identify and operationalize new storage technologies and Microsoft Azure platforms.
You will be responsible for identifying new storage technologies and analyzing business opportunities. You will have the opportunity to recommend & drive business investments in a broad range of technical areas, and to integrate with multiple component teams inside Microsoft Azure as well as across the company. You will work across hardware and software engineering teams, datacenter teams, finance and sourcing teams and more to put together the end-to-end plan to create and build the next generation Azure storage platform.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree AND 5+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software development
- OR equivalent experience.
- OR equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects and software/hardware lifecycle management.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree AND 7+ years of experience in product/service/project/program management OR software development
- OR equivalent experience.

6+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects
- Previous experience in working directly with external customers and partners
- Experience enabling storage hardware and software platforms for the cloud or enterprise.

1+ year(s) experience demonstrating excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work with and influence cross-functional stakeholders
- Excellent analytical skills, able to make informed tradeoffs, and able to break down and solve complex and often ambiguous problems
- MBA, minor in business management or finance in conjunction with engineering degree.
Product Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.

Responsibilities
- You will partner with Software and Hardware Engineering to design technical solutions across feature areas. Also build Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) models to substantiate the business value of the solution and identify risks along with data-based mitigations.
- You’ll define success criteria and create relationships for implementing features for complex cross-functional projects with hands-on experience with software/hardware lifecycle management. You’ll coordinate and ensure alignment across all partner organizations.
- Demonstrate analytical skills and pragmatic technical judgment to assess and make the right decisions with proven track record of delivering features and capabilities for complex platforms that meet evolving business requirements.
- Drive engineering for distributed, reliable and scalable systems.
- Experience working on Microsoft (or other industry) large-scale cloud or on-premise storage services and good understanding of storage hardware (HW) technologies is a plus.
- Demonstrate presenting plans and getting buy-off with technical leaders along with cross-group collaboration with the ability to influence and drive change across groups.
