Overview

Are you passionate about building the secure, cloud storage platform that powers the world’s most advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems? Join Microsoft Azure Storage, where we are evolving and scaling a product that powers mission-critical workloads across AI, analytics, and enterprise data. Azure Storage is the foundational layer of Microsoft’s ecosystem — from Copilot, Azure OpenAI Service, and Microsoft AI to Azure Databricks, Teams, OneDrive, Xbox, and Bing — enabling exascale model training, real-time inference, and planet-scale data movement for object storage, block storage, and massive big data platforms.

As data, models, and compute continue to grow exponentially, the security, reliability, and performance of the storage front-end layer become more critical than ever. We are building a front-end security platform that protects and accelerates every Application Programming Interface (API) call across Azure Storage — from authentication and encryption to network isolation and access control — ensuring the trust and safety of data fueling the world’s most powerful AI workloads. The Azure Storage Front End Security Platform team builds the core security and data access layer for one of the largest cloud storage services on the planet. Our work cross-cuts every storage API — from object and blob storage to data lake, queues, and tables — and enforces the guarantees that make Azure trusted by the world’s largest enterprises and most advanced AI applications. We enable secure, low-latency access to exabytes of data that power Microsoft’s most critical services and customers. Whether it’s authenticating billions of daily requests, encrypting petabytes of data, or isolating storage account data in AI training pipelines inside zero-trust network perimeters.

As a Senior Software Engineer - Azure Storage on the Azure Storage Front End Security Platform team, you’ll design and deliver the core services that make Azure Storage secure, performant, and AI-ready. You will build and ship mission-critical features in the authentication, authorization, encryption, and network security layers that protect data for some of the world’s most important workloads — from enterprise data lakes to generative AI pipelines. You will architect scalable, globally distributed systems that handle billions of secure API calls per day with microsecond-level latency and mission-critical reliability. You will collaborate with security, AI, and infrastructure teams across Microsoft to co-design the next generation of intelligent storage front ends — enabling capabilities like fine-grained access control, vector-aware policy enforcement, and hardware-accelerated encryption for AI data paths. You will push the boundaries of zero-trust cloud security by integrating cutting-edge technologies in identity federation, service-to-service trust, and role-based access control (RBAC) and attribute-based access control (ABAC). You will design for 100× scale growth, with evolving patterns like real-time inference, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and distributed training — all built on a secure foundation. This is a rare opportunity to work at the intersection of security, distributed systems, and AI infrastructure, solving problems at planetary scale and redefining what secure cloud storage means in the era of intelligent computing.

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.
