Responsibilities
  • As you shepherd complex end-to-end product experiences, you will lead the combination of user experience thinking and design execution. You will raise the bar for content and experience design, creating an accessible, usable, understandable structure for product content and messaging. You will be responsible for a coherent vision and experience strategy.

  • Aligning business, brand, naming, messaging, and design strategies using your expertise across the broad domain of customer communications inside or outside of Microsoft.
  • Planning, crafting, and refining names and terms, messaging and content, UX flows, and in-product language—testing, validating, and adapting for the next iteration. Some wins will be fast, and others may feel like they take forever to land.
  • Ensuring our AI experiences meet Microsoft Responsible AI criteria, while designing for modern model- driven experiences.
  • Working within design systems: People will seek you out for answers on Microsoft’s brand voice, content style standards, terminology, common UI copy patterns, feature naming, and more.
  • You will champion a shared vision to build products at scale and leveraging your deep domain and business landscape knowledge, you will propose and prototype designs, make the case for investments, and set examples and standards for the future of content design.
  • You will drive cross-discipline alignment across product families, provide positioning and creative guidance for the customer journey, and lead innovation and investment in the future of content design.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Arts, Humanities, Digital Communications, UX Design, Human Computer Interaction, Communications, English, Journalism, or related field AND 4+ years’ experience working in product or service design
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Arts, Humanities, Digital Communications, UX Design, Human Computer Interaction, Communications, English, Journalism, or related field AND 6+ years experience working in product or service design, copywriting, technical writing, writing (e.g. for marketing, advertising, e-commerce), brand design, or brand marketing
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ year of experience in conversation design, or designing for other interactive, multi-turn systems. Your portfolio should include examples of designing logical flows and interactive dialogues.
  • 4+ years of experience thinking in systems, mapping out complex interaction flows, edge cases, and failure states.
  • 4+ years of experience shipping production-ready code as a result of a collaborative process.

Other Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Graphic Design, Product Design, Visual Design, Human Computer Interaction, Communications, English, Journalism, or related field AND 3+ years’ experience working in product or service design and/or shipping production code.
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Graphic Design, Product Design, Visual Design, Human Computer Interaction,
      or related field AND 5+ years’ experience working in product or service design and/or shipping production code
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • A conceptual understanding of AI/ML principles, including the difference between generative and agentic systems.
  • Experience designing for agent creation/LLM creation applications.
  • Ability to make complex technical subjects easy to understand for a non-technical audience.
  • Familiarity with: Microsoft Copilot Studio, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Microsoft Power Platform ecosystem, Microsoft 365 ecosystem.
  • A passion for the future of work and a deep curiosity about how AI will reshape human productivity and collaboration.

Content Design IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
