Overview

The Visual Studio Feedback and Subscriptions team focuses on enhancing the connection between customers and Visual Studio engineers, aiming to deliver a seamless and integrated developer ecosystem. The Feedback Platform, also known as Developer Community, supports a range of services including Visual Studio, Azure DevOps, SSMS, DevBox, and other Azure offerings. It collects customer feedback, transforms it into actionable work items within Azure DevOps, and facilitates intelligent routing, prioritization, and direct communication to help resolve issues efficiently.

In parallel, the Visual Studio Subscriptions platform provides access to Visual Studio and a comprehensive suite of developer benefits. These include LinkedIn Learning, GitHub, Pluralsight, and more than 20 additional resources available to Visual Studio customers and participants in Microsoft programs such as MPN, MCT, FTE, and Alumni.

We are looking for an experienced software engineer who is passionate about solving complex technical challenges to help build a data driven culture across the organization.

In this role, you will be responsible for building tools & infrastructure that will have a broad business impact. You will have opportunities to learn emerging technologies, have end to end ownership for client features as well as develop and run services in Azure. Responsibilities
  • Design and develop features for customers to leverage Visual Studio subscriptions and benefits
  • Build and enhance the Developer Community platform to foster direct engagement between customers and Visual Studio engineers.
  • Work with AI for multitude of features on the platform which helps not just the VS team; but other services leveraging the platform including customers.
  • Implement data-driven features and automation to improve operational efficiency and customer engagement.
  • Work with Visual Studio leadership directly to influence and drive decisions that impact all of Visual Studio organization.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure reliability and security across services.
  • Learn, drive and improve modern software engineering practices across design/code reviews, testing and deployment
  • Collaborate with internal and external Microsoft partner teams to define requirements and deliver high-quality user experiences.
  • Participate in agile development practices, including sprint planning, code reviews, and continuous integration.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

  • Background Check: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience with Cloud Services
  • Working knowledge of Azure Services is a plus
  • Working knowledge of Web development skills (ASP.Net, React, etc.)
  • Experience with SQL, Kusto and ML/AI is a plus
  • Data-driven approach to software engineering
  • Self-driven and ability to work with minimal direction to research solutions to challenging business/technical problems.
  • Experience with customer focus and passion for doing the right thing for the customer


Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
