Director, Security Resilience

The Security Resilience team reports to Security Sales Area leadership and is responsible for protecting and enhancing customer trust throughout the security event lifecycle and empowering Field & Leadership Teams to effectively engage customers on critical security issues.
The Director, Security Resilience will drive strategic projects and initiatives that strengthen Microsoft’s security posture and customer trust. This role orchestrates customer engagement and incident response across major and emerging security events, ensuring readiness, effective communications, and continuous improvement. The Director will empower field and leadership teams, deliver value to MCAPS and strategic accounts, and foster collaboration across key global partners.

Responsibilities
Security Crisis Strategy & Response
- Represent the Global Security Resilience team in crisis response forums and coordinate major incident response efforts.
- Guide Area leadership on emerging security issues and facilitate global, coordinated response execution.
- Develop and implement awareness initiatives to highlight response capabilities and promote internal readiness.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for field leadership, providing guidance during and outside of crisis events.
Incident & Customer Communications
- Design and execute MCAPS communications strategy throughout the security event lifecycle.
- Lead development and distribution of Security Field Advisories; advise and collaborate on Field Talking Points for key security issues.
- Develop and deliver executive security briefings and drive customer-facing communications, ensuring timely and accurate field guidance.
- Oversee content for the Incident Resource Hub.
Major Security Event Readiness
- Maintain preparedness for rapid response to critical vulnerabilities and high-impact incidents.
- Activate and coordinate Global Security Advisors (GSAs) during major events, leveraging tools like the Security Event Mobilization Tool (SEMT).
- Integrate lessons learned from response efforts to strengthen field and customer readiness.
Field/Customer Education & Awareness
- Promote proactive security communication and customer preparedness beyond crisis response.
- Drive field awareness campaigns for security resources and support materials.
Problem Solving & Insight
- Synthesize findings into actionable insights that inform business decisions and strategic direction.
- Develop frameworks and methodologies to drive problem solving and thought leadership.
Communication
- Communicate insights and recommendations to senior business leaders through written documents and presentations.
- Build end-to-end storylines and outlines for project findings to facilitate executive decision making.
Business Partner Relationships
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships across Security GTM, Sales, Cyber Defense Operations Hub, AI Security, Area Leadership Teams, CSO, CSMO, SE&O, GHOST, MSTIC, Issues Management, CSS Security PMs, ASLs, Marketing, Azure CXP, and M365 CXP.
- Champion cross-functional collaboration to maximize customer/market intelligence and incident response effectiveness.
Project Leadership & Team Development
- Lead large strategy projects and manage smaller projects independently or with Director-level partners.
- Mentor junior colleagues, support recruiting and onboarding, and contribute to team culture.
External Engagement
- Support delivery of external communications and represent the Strategy function in external meetings by explaining research and analysis
Qualifications
Required/minimum qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations, Finance, or related field AND 8+ years experience in program management, process management, or process improvement OR equivalent experience.
- Master's Degree in Business, Operations, Finance, or related field AND 12+ years experience in program management, process management, or process improvement OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations, Finance, or related field AND 15+ years experience in program management, process management, or process improvement OR equivalent experience.
- 5+ years managing high-performing teams.
- Expertise in crisis communications and incident response best practices.
- Proven ability to manage through ambiguity and high-stakes situations.
- Strong collaboration skills across boundaries and levels.
- High integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive material.
- Thrives in a fast-paced, supportive team environment.
- Global mindset and commitment to diversity and inclusion.
- Within a 3-hour time zone difference to Redmond, WA.
Business Program Management IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 - $277,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,600 - $303,600 per year.
