The CSCP organization is responsible for traditional supply chain functions such as plan, source, make, deliver, but also manages supportability (spares), sustainability, and decommissioning of datacenter assets worldwide. We deliver the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, OneDrive and the Microsoft Azure platform for external customers. Cloud Manufacturing Operations and Fulfillment (CMOF) organization within CSCP manages business operations performance and supplies hardware to the datacenters. Well-defined and executed supply chain management ensures reliable, on-time performance and optimized cost, prevents urgent and unplanned investments, and provides accurate and timely information across the supply base and internally across the infrastructure organization. Responsibilities

Product Data Model Development & Technical Readiness

  • Lead the definition and implementation of product data models—including BOM structures, configuration attributes, lifecycle states, and data quality criteria.
  • Ensure product data reflects engineering intent, meets consumption requirements for planning and manufacturing, and aligns with technical roadmaps.
  • Oversee technical execution for data readiness across multiple hardware programs, including validation, completeness checks, and defect resolution.
  • Support the development of prototypes and data model structures for new or highly complex hardware systems, ensuring the models enable scale and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Leadership & Cross-Discipline Collaboration
  • Translate engineering design decisions, configurations, and system dependencies into clear, structured product data requirements.
  • Collaborate across hardware engineering, supply chain planning, data center engineering, and PLM/MDG teams to ensure alignment and adoption of product data structures.
  • Participate in design and readiness reviews to identify business, technical, quality, and operational risks.
  • Provide detailed documentation and technical clarity in multi-disciplinary team environments.

Product Data Quality, Validation, and Issue Resolution

  • Define quality standards for BOM accuracy, completeness, configuration correctness, and lifecycle data.
  • Conduct or oversee root-cause analyses for recurring data issues and drive design tradeoff decisions to resolve systemic problems.
  • Partner with engineering teams to ensure suppliers, design owners, and downstream consumers adhere to product data expectations.
  • Implement systematic quality controls and validation processes that reduce manual effort and improve reliability across product lines.

Process, Testing, and Operational Improvements

  • Develop processes, documentation, and playbooks that standardize how product data is created, structured, validated, and consumed across multiple teams.
  • Facilitate the creation of dashboards and metrics covering data quality, test results, readiness indicators, and functional performance.
  • Support the design and improvement of automated validation or testing solutions for product data completeness and consistency.
  • Identify opportunities to digitize workflows, streamline data flows, and eliminate redundant or error-prone processes.

Execution Excellence & Stakeholder Influence

  • Monitor progress across multiple hardware programs; anticipate challenges and drive technical resolution paths.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Business, Project Management, Supply Chain, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years experience in project management, operations, or engineering
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Project Management, Supply Chain, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years experience in project management, operations, or engineering
    • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:
    • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with automated testing solutions and product data management systems
  • Familiarity with supplier management and technical roadmap alignment


Technical Solution Management IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 - $277,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,600 - $303,600 per year.
