Overview

The Excel team is building an AI agent that enables every customer to work with spreadsheets like an expert, combining their understanding of their domain and task with Copilot's ability to build powerful workbooks that are tailored to their exact needs and preferences, solving real world problems that once took hours in minutes.

Excel is critical to customers in myriad industries and in myriad contexts, and our agent must support a wide range of domains, tailored to the needs of the diverse users.

In this role as a Senior Technical Program Manager, you'll enable us to work with customers and partners to acquire the necessary tools and data to tailor our agent to each of those scenarios, working hand-in-hand with users to understand exactly what high quality spreadsheets look like, and translating that knowledge into rapid improvements in the agent and its capabilities.

Responsibilities
  • Lead our efforts to acquire the data needed to tailor the agentic capabilities in Excel to specific use cases / industries / etc.
  • Help us transform that data and the corresponding user insights into actionable forms that can be used to improve our AI models
  • Scale our approach to the breadth of tasks that users leverage Excel to complete every day.
  • Embody Microsoft’s Culture and Values in daily work and team collaboration


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience with 2+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).


Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
