The Carbon Dioxide Removal team coordinates overall science-based, measurable, and scalable sustainability investments and outcomes across the company – engaging with business groups on the environmental impacts of business operations and positive environmental outcomes resulting from technology and policy development.
We seek an Renewable Energy Manager to support our carbon removal asset management team. In this capacity, you will play a key role in securing carbon credits for Microsoft to be carbon negative by 2030. Our industry-leading carbon removal team has and will continue to sign agreements with suppliers of high-quality carbon dioxide removal (CDR). You will support our asset management activities to ensure that those agreements come to fruition, from receiving deliveries of carbon credits and other supplier reports, partnering with suppliers to address delivery challenges that may arise from time to time, and supporting the development of processes and tools to allow for the program’s successful portfolio growth. You will apply an existing skillset in asset or contract management and personal commitment to meaningful climate action to a quickly developing industry, ensuring that the CDR program has the right infrastructure to rapidly scale.

Responsibilities
- Onboard new contracts at execution and manage key commercial relationships with carbon dioxide removal suppliers globally.
- Monitor carbon dioxide removal agreements to ensure contract compliance and delivery of key milestone obligations and manage contract change orders where necessary.
- Ensure that contracts deliver carbon credits and supporting documentation in line with expectations to meet company goals.
- Generate monthly spend forecasts for the CDR portfolio and manage contract deliveries to minimize forecast variance.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate information is shared on a timely basis with legal, tax, accounting, and finance.
- Monitor contract settlements and implement tools for verification to ensure accurate invoices and timely payments.
- Support the development of platform tools for digitized tracking of CDR contracts, obligations, and carbon credits.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, Business, Finance or related field AND 3+ years experience in data science/analytics, finance, project management, supply chain, and/or operation OR Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, Business, Finance or related field AND 4+ years experience in data science/analytics, finance, project management, supply chain, and/or operations OR equivalent experience.
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, Business, Finance or related field AND 6+ years experience in data science/analytics, finance, project management, supply chain, and/or operation OR Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, Business, Finance or related field AND 8+ years experience in data science/analytics, finance, project management, supply chain, and/or operation OR equivalent experience.
3+ years' experience in corporate social responsibility, philanthropies, corporate affairs, or related area.
3+ years in asset management.
3+ years’ experience in carbon markets, renewable energy, or other sustainability field.
3+ years’ experience working in or with a large, matrixed organization.
2+ years’ experience in carbon markets, renewable energy, or other sustainability field.
2+ years’ experience in FP&A/Finance or collaborating with FP&A/Finance as a key stakeholder.
2+ years’ experience in contract management.

Sourcing and Category Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $96,500 - $188,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $123,500 - $206,400 per year.
