Join the Azure Redis Cache team, powering real-time experiences and AI-driven applications at global scale. As businesses embrace generative AI, low-latency data access and intelligent caching have never been more critical. The team provides customers with secure, dedicated Redis cache endpoints, exposed as a service, managed by Microsoft Azure. Help us build the backbone for modern cloud architectures, enabling blazing-fast performance for everything from microservices to AI agents. While the service has seen rapid growth since its inception, we are looking to boost growth via these new experiences.

As a Software Engineer II, you will be building the infrastructure, libraries and tools for this cloud scale service.

Responsibilities
  • Work with other engineers in the team to bring the latest Redis versions to Azure, integrating it with various Azure experiences
  • Accelerate your career growth by working with multiple partner teams, deploying at a large scale all around the world and helping customers achieve very low-latency caches for their apps and services
  • Design and build the software for high scalability, security and reliability
  • Contribute to the deployment and monitoring of the service at cloud scale
  • Participate in the efforts to deliver and improve engineering systems and practices to ensure service quality.
  • Be a part of a talented team where learning from peers, investing time and effort into staying abreast of current developments and growing as a team is a core theme


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience with building testable, distributed and highly scalable online services on Azure or similar cloud platform
  • Familiarity with Linux and git
  • Detail oriented design, coding, debugging and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with Open Source Software development
  • Passion for quality with strong customer empathy
  • Ability to drive technical decisions across teams

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
